Confessions in the Dark

It was I who had brought it up,

And yet, my heart was racing so fast, guilt and fear dancing in my chest.

Was he seeing me from a different light already, but was only pretending it was all okay so he wouldn't hurt my feelings?

But when I searched his eyes, there was no condemnation or any of my wild imaginations.

He simply sat up, pulling me closer to his chest, his fingers reaching out to tug at the lone strands of hair peeking out towards my forehead.

Then, he opened his mouth, his tone gentle,

"I was waiting for you to tell me about it, whenever you were ready."

Something tightened in my throat, and I forced it down, replying almost immediately,

"Si...since when?"

Ferrara sucked in a deep breath, his fingers gliding down my arms and halting on my palm.

Instinctively, my palm opened, letting his in, a soft sigh of relief leaving my throat from the mere contact of our hands.

He met my eyes, his thumb moving in circles against my palms. Then he muttered simply,
