I help my dad go through old boxes in the attic. Mostly it’s tubs of things my parents kept from when Mike, Dave, and I were children. As we go through the unlabeled boxes, my dad asks, “Tru, how does Taran treat you?”

I smile as I think about Taran, “He’s very good to me, Dad.” My dad nods, but I see the hesitation on his face. “What’s wrong?”

My dad sighs, “It’s just that the two of you are moving very quickly. Two months ago, you were dating Bryan, then immediately started dating Taran.
