THETIA KESTLE
Time flew by at a bewildering pace and the time for the ball opening approached. Many young men had asked me for a dance, which I accepted out of respect. Unlike the other girls, I did not have a partner, because the only partner I wanted was Prince Harlan VII. As I was chatting with some guests, I saw them waving to someone behind me. I turned around and came face to face with the Prince. I hurried to greet him so I wouldn't appear to be rude. He seemed to be elsewhere, tired, without much energy. His trip to Duaples must have tired him out a lot. Especially since I had heard that the King of Duaples had put a lot of pressure on him when Anastasia had been assaulted by a girl at the Imperial Academy.
