Chapter 19: I wish He Understood

As Max continued to comfort Carmela, Pedro's expression darkened. He didn't like the idea of Max being there, comforting his friend. He knew that Max was Carmela's ex-husband, and he didn't want him to get close to her again. He was worried that Max would only cause more pain and confusion.

Carmela sensed the tension between the two men, and she felt a wave of guilt. She knew that they both cared about her, and she didn't want them to fight. She wanted them to get along, for the sake of her own sanity.

Carmela took a deep breath and turned to Max. "I appreciate you being here," she said, her voice steady. "But I also want to make sure that you and Pedro get along. You both mean a lot to me, and I don't want any bad blood between you."

Max looked at her, his eyes softening. "Of course," he said, his voice gentle. "I respect Pedro, and I have no desire to cause any problems. I just want to make sure you're okay."
