I can’t believe it; I had seen what I thought was the emaciated and dead body of my mother laid on the cot within the cell. And then, she’s not dead. I stand immobile, completely shocked, staring at the scene before me. I’m certain that my mouth is gaping open, my jaw dropped and staring like a deer in the headlights.
