"Don't let them escape!!" Penelope shuddered at the unmistakable, gruff voice of her father.

All he could do in his immobile state was yell out the command while his subjects did his bidding.

Liam's muscles were on fire as he lifted Penelope off the ground, his heartbeat thundering in his chest as he carried her in his arms.

With every step he took, he felt the weight of his past mistakes weighing down on him. But he refused to let that hinder his mission - to keep Penelope safe at all costs.

As they moved through the secret passageway leading out of the packhouse, Liam stumbled a time or two, but he pushed on, determined to escape the clutches of the pack.

The passageway was dark and narrow, and he could barely see a few feet ahead of him. But he trusted his instincts and kept moving forward, relying on his years of experience as a shapeshifter to guide him.

Penelope clung to him tightly, her fingers digging into his skin as they made their way through the dark, damp passageway.
