Fire

The little boy’s cheeks are puffed up and his face is turning red as he tries to concentrate. He is trying to picture a red fireball in his mind but it is distorted. No matter how hard he tires, he cannot seem to channel his energy to it.

“Concentrate, Lavi,” a gentle voice tells him.

“It is hard!” Lavi complains and glances at the woman sitting next to him. She has long, wine colored hair which is shining under the bright sky. Her face exudes an exotic aura but she is sweet with an angelic demeanor. She smiles at him and pinches his cheek.

“It is not hard!” Sha laughs. “You just need to focus.”

“It is hard,” Lavi murmurs again. He looks down, wondering what he is doing wrong. Failure frustrates him a lot. His mother was very specific that he must concentrate on his feelings but he cannot do so. Every time he closes his eyes, he cannot focus on his inner feelings at all. It is as if his own thoughts are evading him.
