"However, the princess can't be in the ocean. The enemy seems to be using a powerful mermaid. She would be able to find her if she comes back to the sea," Queen Sung added. Her previous relaxed tone was now authoritative.
Frustration seeped through my pores.
Prince Marvelon would not like this. He treated his house as a shrine. They should imagine ordering an ill-tempered person that he had to host someone else in his house for God knows how long. The hardest part was, we were not even asking but telling him this needed to be done. And, if it was one thing I learned about the Prince, he didn't like to be told what to do.
"Shelliot!" King Earland shouted.
The fishes hurdled together. I jumped.
"You will keep her safe there. Under no circumstances is she allowed back in the ocean without our approval. Do I make myself clear?" he bellowed.
I released a low breath. Bubbles danced before me.
Marvelon was going
"I don't want you two making out on my damn couch." I pointed at Alex and Sophia, who were kissing on the couch.Sophie pushed away from Alex. He pouted his lips and whimpered."Shelly already cleaned the house for the party tonight," I announced, "and I don't want you guys messing up my shit."Sophie laughed. "Ah, such a cockblocker."I whipped her the middle finger, and flopped down on the couch adjacent to them, crossing my feet at the ankle on the wooden coffee table. It had taken Sophia and Alex a long time to be comfortable enough to do pre-sexual interaction with each other while I was in the same room. Funny enough, not as long for me to be okay with it. I was the one who encouraged them to get back together with the continuous help
Damn guardian! It was as if the more she knew I hated something, the more she did it. I should be grateful. After all, she was there whenever I needed her. Unfortunately, I was ungrateful.I leaned on the nearest post, holding up the pier. Allowing the cool sea breeze to fill my lungs, I blew it out at the water before me. The water parted at my playfulness, reminding me of when Moses parted the Red Sea. When I was younger, Alex, Sophie, and I often dressed up and pretended we were Moses and the children of Israel. It was pretty cool to part the ocean. At least, that was what they thought. My little miracle was done three more times before a sparkle blinded my sight. I squinted my eyes and sheltered my face with the back of my hand."You know, I saw that right?" a familiar voice purred.
"We're almost there," Octoria, the Southern King's guard announced.I gulped aloud.Land. Ever since I was told I would be staying on land, anxiety settled in the pit of my stomach and refused to move. What would being on land feel like? Many of my people traverse this wonderland. Some returned with great stories. My Mother, the Queen, had the best of all of them. Most times my imagination ran wild with how this place would be. This prevented sleep. Worst of all, I missed my parents. It had been five days since I left home. Mother would have loved the adventure. She was always dragging me along on her exploring. At first, when I was told I had to leave home because of the new threat we had encountered, I was upset. I wanted to stay and fight, not be a c
Lying lifeless on the ground was my only option as I tried to catch my breath. My senses returned just in time to hear Octoria talking to Shelliot. My eardrums managed to make out some of the words, like Queen, pod, news, death, sorry. After which there were only splashes, signifying that she was leaving. If this was some other time, I would have demanded clarification for her and Octoria's conversation. Right now, rest was all that was needed.Guardian Shelliot then appeared over my head, she bent closer, wearing an expression that stated she was sorry. "I know that was awful, but as I promised, it'll all get better."A girl could only hope. There was no way I would make it here alive if it all was worse than the rumors. She disappeared again and reappeared, dangling a few garments. "Come on, let's get you dressed."
After what seemed like a long walk, we arrived at the 'Prince's Castle'. I had to say, the creation was past the term, beautiful. Items were illuminating the object, giving it a glorious feel. Its walls were transparent. I was in awe at how I could be able to view the inside at a small distance. There was a vast amount of figures moving about inside. It even sang aloud, spilling its noise across the air. I was about to ask what creation created such a sound but thought otherwise when two creatures walked towards us."Those are the Prince's friends, companions," Shelliot explained. "That one," She pointed at the goddess with the flowing yellow hair, "Sophia, and that one next to her is Alex."Wow!Sophia had the features of a mermaid. Her glowing yellow hair f
Sophia and Alex were in the middle of copying what was on the mirror earlier. At that moment, my throat felt hoarse. Not wanting to disturb them, I walked outside, to where I saw a group of guys surrounded by a mist-like fog."Hey?" the tall guy greeted, fog escaping his mouth as he talked."Water?" I asked. He tapped his friend's shoulder. "Nick, get her some water."The friend turned and brown eyes slid over my body before he nodded and left. The other guy handed me the stick he had in his mouth, which I took, putting it in mine.He laughed. "No, Bee, you gotta breathe it in like this."He took it
This was beautiful. The sun peeked above the ocean, red and orange sprinkled across the sea surface, and the sky.I leaned against the balcony railing.I could never live with myself if I destroyed such a thing. Such beauty. My palm was scrubbed over my face.'She' was wrong. They were wrong. I would never… I could never destroy the world. I could never hurt the ones I love. I would never let my powers get that out of control. Not like last time.A replay of what happened with Alex was forced to the forefront of my mind. I was naive and reckless. I won't let there be a repeat of that incident. An arm snaked around my waist. A soft cheek p
A bubble of water rose from the pool and molded itself into a spear before turning solid ice. Shelly appeared casual as if there was nothing wrong with what she was doing. This was one of the reasons I couldn't live a normal life. This woman was sucking every ounce of normalcy out of my life. She arched a brow. "Your powers have grown."I straightened at the accusation. However, like every other time I recovered just as fast as her attacks. My shoulders bounced. "It's water." My gaze flashed to the spear in Shelly's hand. "Like boiling tea."The weapon glistened and hardened."Hmmm," was all she said; blue eyes on her spear.
