Oh… damn it!

Evan was startled awake by the sound of beeping that wouldn’t cease. Immediately he stood up, his body working before his mind returned to reality.

Had it worked after all?

The whole way to the laboratory was rushed and he was eager to see what would be there waiting for him. Had the experiment worked after all?

Had he discovered a vampire?

As soon as he stepped into the laboratory, he was struck by a certain pungent smell and he gagged, immediately plugging his nose with his pointer finger and thumb tightly. He reached for a gas mask he kept for safety purposes and put it on immediately, letting the filter in it so it’s job.

The scent was horrible. What was it?

He heard a hissing sound and moved towards its direction, only to see the cage he had placed the puppy in had dents all over it. The puppy lay there, inside, unmoving. Its fur looked matted and darker than it had been originally and Evan had to wonder if it was the very same puppy he had injected in the first place.
