Chapter 72: Sorry Seems Deficient

Amelia sat across the table from Izzy, trying to find the lie in her eyes.

"I am so incredibly sorry, Izzy, I never meant to hurt you," Amelia said again, trying to convince herself that she was truly forgiven.

"It's not your fault, Amelia. You did nothing wrong. I understand why you did what you did. When we are desperate, we do drastic things. I ran from my mate, which in hindsight was done out of fear. I would have done better if I had run toward him, he would have protected me. I let my fear be my guide for too long and look where it got me." Izzy gestured around the hall and the dragons that had not yet welcomed the shifter in their midst yet.

"I should never have told Nate that you were petitioning the council, that was wrong of me, I am so sorry, Izabelle," she whispered softly, grasping Izzy's hands above the table.
