For whatever reason Oberon had decided that he wanted a child and he wanted Rhonda to marry him, he had chosen her as his partner in procreating a fresh and new generation altogether. A pragmatic choice, since she earlier mentioned she was free of any gold digging ambitions at all. And she was good looking of the right class and echelons of the society to match with him and had certainly the social upbringing to match and host by his side. She was young for any kind of problem free reproduction in further life. And she had a comfortable understanding in his how his life actually worked.

The only huge irony of this situation was if he had made this proposition a year ago, if he had said that he would want her as his wife then she would have been deliriously happy. She would have been jumping with joy that she had gotten Oberon Hunter as her man, and not feeling so horribly screwed up inside.

It was ten months too late.
