Chapter 7

Diannah.

We kept walking deeper into the forest as Adora have been telling me about the war that happened in the past. It’s so sad to hear how people suffered after that war. She told me how the kingdom celebrates the day they won the war every year and pray for the people who lost their lives in the war.

“People say that the souls of those people come down to earth on that day and bless us,” She said, “It was running for years,” she added.

As we walked, the sound of waterfalls reached my ears, “Hear that?” She asked, looking at me, I nodded my head at her with excitement evident in my eyes.

We walked into the woods, as I walked through the small cave, I saw a beautiful waterfall. My mouth hung open as I saw how beautiful the scenery was, the sun setting and birds flying around the beautiful waterfall.

“Wow” I whispered as I walked behind Adora, it was so beautiful.

“The most beautiful view,” She whispered while sitting on the ground and staring at the beautiful sunset.

“Indeed,” I replied as I sat beside her and stared at the crystal-clear water flowing down the ground, I stared at my clear reflection and smiled. I looked up at the sun setting and the water flowing down from rocks from the hills, it was so peaceful here.

The sounds of nature and water were like a melody to my ears. I wish I could stay here forever, I thought as I pulled my knees over to my chest and wrapped my arms around them. The fresh breeze touched my skin and sent a shiver down my body.

So, refreshing, I thought while closing my eyes and drawing air in.

The sound of footsteps made me open my eyes, I glanced at Adora and saw her looking at me as well,

“What a surprise,” I heard a familiar voice, I turned in the direction of it and saw him standing with his hands inside his pockets, he was staring at us with a smirk on his face.

What is he doing here? I thought, Adora, got up from the ground and smiled at him, “Gabriel, what are you doing here?” She asked with excitement, dancing in her face.

“I think I should ask the same,” he responded while folding his arms over his chest,

“I was just showing her how beautiful this place is,” she replied while glancing at me. I slowly got up from the ground and stared at him in confusion. What's his problem? Are we not allowed to come here?

“Go back, Adora,” He ordered with a serious look on his face,

“But…” She tried to convince him but one look from him shut her up. She lowered her face and began walking ahead, I stepped towards her,

“Not you,” he said, I turned to him in confusion.

Adora glanced at me before walking away, leaving me alone with this devil. It was getting dark but thanks to the blue ball lights, the lights them were making the area bright. My heart began to beat rapidly as I saw him step towards me with his fixed gaze on me.

I began to step back with every step he took towards me, “St-Stop,” I stuttered while gesturing to him with my hands but he just did the opposite to it and kept walking to me.

I gasped as I tripped and was about to fall flat on the ground, “Ah!” I screamed but a pair of strong hands caught me and crushed me against a strong stone-like chest. My hands were pressed against his chest and I could feel his muscles under the clothes he was wearing. His intoxicating sandalwood body odour hit my nose making my heart beat faster and my breathing go unstable.

His grip around my waist was so damn tight that I was crushed to his body like I was his second skin, I could feel him inhaling the smell of my hair and it made me feel extremely self-conscious.

“Um…” I cleared my throat; he immediately removed his hands on me which made me lose my balance and fall to the ground.

“Ouch,” I hissed as my back hit the ground while shutting my eyes tight out of pain, I got up from the ground and glared at him.

“How pathetic,” he commented while looking at me up and down, “You don’t belong here,” he added with a fake sympathetic look on his face. I grit my teeth in anger but stay quiet, he’s the king of this realm, I can’t just disrespect him.

“Don’t get too attached to my family… you’re just a temporary guest,” he said suddenly in a deadly serious tone, “You are not allowed to get close to any of my family members... it’s my direct order for you,” he said in an authoritative tone, it was a direct command from the king of the wizard’s realm.

What the hell is wrong with him? I thought as I stared at him as if he got to horns on his head.

“What!” I said in surprise,

“You heard me; you are not allowed to interact with anyone unless I approve… You’re from Earth, you grew up with humans… Humans aren’t trustworthy,” he said, “I can’t let you get close to my people unless you prove yourself,” he added.

What is he talking about? Jesus! He sounds so stupid right now!

I scoffed while rolling my eyes, he raised his eyebrow at my mocking tone and folded his arms over his chest.

“Did I say something funny?” he asked with a serious expression,

“Do you seriously want me to prove myself?” I asked, and for that he nodded his head.

I let out a sigh and stared at him, “Why should I prove myself to you? I don’t get it!” I was genuinely confused at his words.

Like why? Why should I prove myself to him? If he doesn’t trust me then Why not send me back home?

“Since you’re going to stay in...My palace…” he said while taking a step towards me and I quickly began to step back, “… in My kingdom… roam among My people,” he spoke while backing me up to the tree and trapping me with his hands on either side of me.

My heart began to beat rapidly against my ribcage at how close he was to me, his hot breath was heating my face and I found myself moving back, pressing my back to the tree.

“Wh-what do you want me t-to do… to prove myself,” I asked while breathing heavily, his face was so close to me that If I moved any bit our lips would touch and if I took a deep breath, my chest would touch his.

I stared at him and noticed his eyes moving to my neck and back to my face, the color of his eyes was slightly changing, and then I could feel something wrong in the way his eyes were glancing at my neck and the way he was breathing.

The tension in the air was high, one could cut it with a knife if they want.

“Blood…” he whispered,

I stared with wide eyes, “What?” I asked in shock,

“To prove yourself… all you need to do is…” he stopped and stared into my eyes, I was holding my breath while anxiety began to kick in,

“Let me drink your blood,” he said, making my throat dry and my breathing stop.
