Turning Red

It was a Sunday morning with everyone going about their usual business. Birds chirped from nearby trees and the fallen leaves on the ground rustled as the wind blew wildly.

“I understand the girl named Genova Is your friend, correct?” Meredith spoke while looking at Ashly sitting facing her in a coffee shop.

“Yes, My Queen. We met at school,” Ashly replied.

“Okay then, ensure to remain friends with her for as long as possible. I will need something from you soon enough.” Meredith’s voice was soft. She picked up the small mug containing her black coffee and brought it to her deep shade red lips.

Ashly shifted uncomfortably in her seat. “Uhh… that's not a problem, we're already really close, so I believe our friendship will last even if I don't put in so much effort. She’s a sweet soul,” Ashly replied a little shakingly.

Meredith lowered the mug down on the table with elegance. “Good! You may take your leave.”
