Orpheus explained, “Because I wouldn't meet other people in the lab.”

Sienna understood what he meant. She felt a little sorry for him. He wouldn’t interact with anyone else in the lab, so turning on his respiratory system wasn’t necessary as he didn’t have to pretend to be an actual human being. He had spent a long time by himself in this desolate and freezing lab. How lonely had he been?

“It’s okay,” Sienna murmured while she perched on tiptoe and petted Orpheus’s head. She made him a promise. “I have found you now. I’ll make sure you’re not alone in the future.”

Orpheus was startled. His program told him that he wasn’t a human, yet Sienna told him that she wouldn’t let him feel lonely again. Her words were beyond his cognition, and he didn’t understand what she meant.

Even so, Orpheus still nodded and let out a tender smile. He replied, “I will do as you say, Miss Sienna.”
