Chapter 12

Nick POV

I had a surprisingly busy day as I explored this little town but was quite disappointed when I hadn’t seen or heard from Lyvie all day. I knew she had work to do though, so I didn’t let it deter my enthusiasm for picking up Selah from school with her this afternoon. I had hoped I would get the chance to see her farm, but when I called the number for the tour that was on the pamphlet I found in the lobby of the bed and breakfast, the machine said there would be no tours this week. I had really wanted to check it out, knowing it would one day pass to Selah. At least I would get to see the restaurant and bar before I left town.

I had lunch at a small café in the center of town, where everyone seemed to stare at me. I smiled politely but honestly it made me a little uncomfortable. No doubt these people weren’t used to seeing strangers in their small community, but if these people were staring at me like this, I had to wonder how much business the bed & breakf
