37. Alone Again

Frederick was much better, but for no reason had he allowed Selene to leave his side, so he had complained of a fake pain and discomfort in his wound.

The king never imagined enjoying the company and care of his fiancée so much, lasting whole minutes detailing the features of the young woman while she slept on the other side of the bed.

"Your Majesty, have you been awake for long?" Selene asked upon seeing him sitting and propped up against the bed's headboard.

"Not long, my Lady, but I was wondering about your absence," he whispered, patting the bed.

Selene blushed, unable to help it. Having Frederick close to her always posed a great temptation she hadn't wanted to succumb to, not because she didn't desire it, but because Frederick needed to recover to return to the Castle of Astor.

"I went for some water, Your Majesty. Would you like some?" she asked with a trembling voice.

Frederick nodded slightly as Selene made a slight head bow and turned to pour some water.
