The Biggest Surprise

Saturday, December 25th, Bastet Mansion, Kir Bastet's 17th birthday. All of the other royal families had been waiting for this event since the birth of the princess was announced.

All royals and upper-class members are invited to this, once in a lifetime, event where the princess will be finally making her official debut as the next queen of Kayanadia.

Suitors are lined up at the front gates, members of the Bastet family sitting in the courtyard, waiting for the party to begin, and where is the star of this event? Hiding in her room, panicking over all the possible things that could go wrong during tonight's soiree.

"Moose, what am I going to do?! What if Lord Luca tries to kill Asher?! What if I lose control over my powers?! What if....oh gods!! What if Roo causes a scene???" The princess cried to Lord Moose.

"Don't worry, Alpha, we already prepared plenty of security and made certain that Luca's table is on the opposite side of the yard. Try to relax please, you need to start getting ready for YOUR party." Moose replied back, reminding the princess that she doesn't need to worry about these things.

"Alright, you're right Moose, I just have a really odd feeling about how tonight's going to turn out." The princess confided in her friend before standing up to prepare herself for her party.

So much to do and so little time, though she didn’t really have the right to complain since her anxiety was the only reason that she was running late.

Kir stepped out of her closet and looked at Moose. “Should I wear this one?” Kir asked as she spun around to show Moose the long silver gown that she had tried on.

Moose took one look and shook his head. “Sorry Alpha, but if I’m being honest, that dress doesn’t go well with your blue hair. Wait, you are going to have your natural hair shown tonight, right?” Moose asked Kir.

Kir sighed before walking back into her closet without responding to his question. Kir looked around and spotted the perfect gown for the night. “Moose, look at this one!” Kir yelled excitedly as she walked out in the amethyst colored gown that ended slightly above her knees.

“Alpha, despite knowing the risks, I must say that you look absolutely gorgeous in that dress.” Moose said while flinching in preparation for a beating.

A minute passed before he opened his eyes. “It’s fine Moose, this time I’m making an exception.” Kir laughed before going over to her mirror to start curling her blue hair.

Moose waited at the bottom of the stairs for Kir as she finished getting ready. Heading down the stairs herself, Kir got to the end of the stairs just in time to hear the party music playing, signaling that it was time for her to make her grand entrance.

“Let’s go Alpha, everyone is waiting to see how majestic you look tonight.” Moose said, causing Kir to laugh as they walked out the backdoors towards the guests.

“Miss Kir, it’s very nice to finally meet you again after so many years.” A tall man who looked like an older version of Luca, said to Kir.

“It’s nice to meet you again as well, Lord Lilvondia.” Kir said as she bowed to the man.

“Haha, so you do remember me then! And you’ve become quite the beautiful young woman that we all knew you would grow up to be.” Lord Livondia said, making Kir feel slightly uncomfortable as he leaned into her face, as if to inspect her.

“Father, shall we sit down and allow some of the other guests to greet the birthday girl?” Luca said as he led his father away from Kir as she swore to thank him later.

“Miss Bastet, it’s a pleasure to be meeting you, in-person, my name is Lord Lycan, alpha of the Thorned Desert Pack, we’ve done business with your father in the past and would be overjoyed if you were to desire our allegiance as well.” A man with raven-colored hair with grey streaks peeking through, said to Kir.

Kir bowed to the man before speaking. “It’s a pleasure to meet you as well, Lord Lycan, I would love to further discuss business exchanges with you, after the party.” Kir said back, hinting that this wasn’t the time to be talking about that. Lord Lycan seemed to take the hint as he bowed and walked away, allowing the next guest to step up.

After what felt like an eternity, the last guest bowed and took their seat and Kir was finally allowed to relax for a moment. However, Kir suddenly got a very odd feeling that caused her to look around.

“Alpha, are you alright?” Moose suddenly asked Kir, snapping her out of her trance.

"Yes, I'm fine." Kir said, despite not being able to shake the odd feeling.

Kaoru watched from the stables as all of Kir’s guests lined up to greet her and then took their seats. Kir was amazingly beautiful tonight, more than usual, which Kaoru didn’t realize was even possible. Kaoru wished he could go talk to her but he knew that it wasn’t a good idea that night.

"Hey, what are you doing all the way over here?" A voice asked from behind him.

"Ha, I could ask you the same thing Roo, aren't you supposed to be sitting with your mom right now or maybe scaring all of Kir's suitors away from her?" Kaoru asked his friend.

"Yeah, well you know, Kir had Moose kick me out of the party because my presence will only upset her, what's your excu-" Kaoru slapped his hand across Roo’s mouth, cutting his sentence short, as Kaoru had saw Kir suddenly look in their direction.

Kaoru held his breath until he saw her look away and focus back on her guests.

"What the hell man???" Roo asked Kaoru.

"Heh, sorry about that, I thought I heard something but I turned out to be wrong." Kaoru lied, not wishing to explain the real situation to him.

Inuharu would probably kill Kaoru on the spot if he found out, and we’re currently out of view from anyone that would be able to save Kaoru from the overpowered wolf next to him, so Kaoru thought he should keep quiet for now and keep his head attached to his body.

"Alright everyone, thank you so much for taking the time to come out and help us celebrate Kir's seventeenth birthday. "

"Kir would like to make a few announcements before we proceed with tonight's festivities." Renay Bastet announced to everyone, drawing Kaoru and Roo’s attention towards the stage.

If only Kaoru knew what was going to happen next, then maybe, he wouldn’t have come at all, or at least he would’ve given up on ever having Kir be his…. Instead he was frozen to the spot, unable to move or speak until Kaoru did the only thing he could think of. Kaoru ran before Kir could even notice him.

Kir took the stage and the mic from her mother after she got the audience’s attention for her.

"Hello everyone, I am very pleased to have all of you here tonight, I understand that many of you wish to converse about continuing with business deals that you had with my late father, however as your future queen, it is my honor and my duty to announce to all of you the identity of my ma-"

Kir was cut short at the last word of her sentence as three men suddenly rushed up to her, all uttering the same word at the exact same time, causing chaos beyond belief.

"MATE." All three men said.

Kir wished she could say it was a joke or some kind of misunderstanding, however upon seeing the three men in front of her she began to feel the mate bond towards all three men, attempting to pull her into a trance, but she resisted.

"Princess!! The mate bond is not something to take so lightly, it is shameful of you to have your friends pretend to be your mates!" Lord Lycan yelled angrily.

Kir cleared her throat, “I….I…Th-this isn’t a joke….” Kir stuttered out as she continued to stare at the men.

The first of the three to speak was Asher, “What kind of sick joke is this? I’m Kir’s mate, why are you guys trying to mess with her head?!” Asher yelled at the other two men.

“Obviously you’re the one trying to mess with her head because I’m Kir’s mate!” Luca yelled back at Asher.

“Both of you are wrong and need to stop messing with MY Kir!” Roo yelled to the other two.

Kir began to feel dizzy and started to fall over. ‘...Oh gods, why must my life be so complicated? One mate was enough trouble, so why add Roo and Luca to the mix?! And what about the fourth presence I felt?’.... Kir blacked out as her head hit the concrete steps.
