Chapter Seven - Marcus

Hex fumbled around in his kitchen, pulling out whatever it was that he needed to mask our scent. His house was hot as hell, even in the autumn air, but he never seemed bothered by it.

Lilly sat with her knees pressed tightly together, her palms clutching them with nerves. She jumped at any sound outside, her body language on high alert. Hex wobbled back into the living area, holding a bag of some crushed up powder. "This should do it for at least a couple of weeks. You smear it on your foreheads, and it'll take care of your scents." Hex stopped in front of Lilly. "He hasn't marked you, has he?"

Unable to stop it, my wolf growled, clearly pissed at the idea of someone marking her.

"No," she said quickly, shaking her head. "He planned to do it when … when we married."

"You were his betrothed?" Hex asked. His wise eyes met mine, and he gave me a look that could only mean you're in for it. "That's not good news for anyone. Here." He unzipped the bag, stuck two fingers into the powder, a
