The dejected roommate

Third person's POV

Kaylee dropped onto the couch, dead tired from the night's activities. It was only five in the morning when she was finally able to turn in for the day. Precipitation sat on her forehead, drenching her bangs.

"You are back." Her eyes opened to find her brunette friend, McKenna on the other end of the couch wrapped in layers of the red duvet with ice cream in her hands.

Kenna's hair was tied in a ponytail. Kaylee's eyes fell on the purple pajamas she had forced her into before she turned in for work. Her tear-stricken face looked at Kaylee with sadness. Kay forced her eyes shut, not in the mood for her pity session.

"Is this what you've been up to while I was gone?" Kaylee's eyes were wide as she openly judged her friend.

Feeling the need to defend herself, she said in a meek voice, "I was just watching tv. The Kardashians are on." Her eyes moved back and forth between the tv and her ice cream.

"You need to get a hold of yourself. This isn't your first breakup and it won't be the last. I can't pick up your broken heart every time."

Getting up, she walked in front of Kenna. "I'm going to run you a bath and we are going to talk about what happened." She walked towards the bathroom, a smile sat on her lips when she heard Kenna whisper her gratitude.

Kenna stared mindlessly at the screen, completely out of focus. She so badly wanted to scream but the sound got caught in her throat, making it hard to breathe.

"I'm ready for you," Kaylee called out, the bubbles melting from her touch.

Kenna dashed in, discarded her soiled purple nighties, and dove into the bath. The oil began working almost immediately. Her muscles relaxed and she let out a satisfied sigh.

Kaylee fetched a washcloth from the window and dabbed then in the bath water. "Why don't you tell me what happened, starting from the beginning."

Kenna let out a loud sigh as Kaylee washed her shoulders, she didn't want to talk but knew she had to. She always felt better after talking to Kay. "Everything was going so well till he found my work card. The one with the brothel and everything."

Kaylee's breathing hitched as she waited for Kenna to go on.

"I tried to explain that I wasn't loving my job but it put food on the table."

"He didn't listen, did he?" Kaylee asked, waiting for a response from Kenna but she got nothing that gave her an answer.

"If you want, you can quit the whorehouse. I don't mind taking care of you till you get back on your feet. You are like a sister to me. I'll be more than happy to help." She went back to bathing her friend who held onto her hand, stopping her.

"First, don't call it a whorehouse, you know I hate that, and secondly, I could never live off you. I'll be a parasite." Kaylee didn't need to check to know her friend was pouting. It was a habit she picked from the streets to get fed.

She paused her bathing. "What are you going to do now?"

"Move on I guess. That's the only thing I can do. He's not picking up my calls." She sounded tired like she gave it her best but it still wasn't enough.

"Have you called Boss?"

"I did, I told her I had personal issues and needed some time off," Kenna said calmly, taking over the bathing from Kaylee. "I won't get the pay for the time I've missed but it doesn't matter, I need to heal before having men thrust their way inside of me."

Kaylee poured strawberry-scented shampoo on Kenna's hair."If you need money, don't hesitate to ask me. You know I have enough to spare," she said, not giving it a second thought.

Kenna didn't say anything. She didn't have to. Kaylee was her sister. She could read her mind in a heartbeat.

Kenna turned her soapy hands at the edges of the bath. "Thank you for doing this Kaylee. I don't know what's wrong with me." She cried at the last part. Tears ran down her cheeks as sobs racked her body. She couldn't help herself, her heart was breaking. She loved Nate and from how harsh he was being, he never really loved her. She recalled the few time Kaylee had butt-in into her relationship, begging her to end things with him. If only she had listened, maybe things wouldn't have gotten this messy.

She spent so much on him, bought him clothes, and lent him money that he never paid back. Now she was starting to see a pattern. He only used her and finding out she worked in a brothel allowed him to break up with her without seeming like a jerk. Anyone who heard their story would blame her. This caused her to cry even more. She was the victim, the one suffering and she was likely to get the blame while he was probably having the time of his life.

"Why the sudden tears, Kenna?"

"Just leave me alone," Kenna hid her crying, red face in the palm of her hands, too embarrassed to face her friend now.

"If that's what you want." Kaylee walked towards the door, her fingers were already on the handle when she remembered. Turning around, "Kenna?" She called out to her friend who didn't respond. "Boss wants you tonight. You have to turn in for work today."

Kenna breathed heavily in the palm of her hands. She waited a few minutes before getting out of the bathtub. Her naked frame stood in front of the mirror as she analyzed herself. She was indeed beautiful. Long blond waves rested below her shoulders, sharp, emerald eyes, a cute, sharp nose, and a thin lip that begged to be kissed.

Her breast was the only thing that had her insecure. They were on the flat side as she used a lot of push-up bras but they could only do so much. A tired sigh left her as she left the bathroom, already tired from the night ahead.

Kaylee and Kenna spent the entire day together, watching series and baking. They both forgot about their troubles and stress. A phone call came in. "Aren't you going to pick that up?" Kaylee pointed to Kenna's pocket where the ringing was coming from.

"Yeah." She quickly picked it up. "Hello?"

Kaylee watched as Kenna hummed and bobbed her head every few seconds. Her face said everything, she wasn't happy with whatever news she was getting.

"Who was that?" Kaylee asked as soon as she hung up the phone.

"Boss wants me there now. Chloe has a tummy ache." She rolled her eyes at the last part. Chloe was always getting someone to do her dirty work and still ended up getting paid.

"What are you going to do?" Kaylee asked, checking the batter mixture. It felt dry. She was good in bed but the kitchen was a huge no.

"Do I have a choice? I better get ready."

Kenna sat idly in the dressing room. No one had picked her for the night yet. She began questioning why she was made to turn in early. They didn't need her.

A cute, busty redhead stood by the door as she called out to Kenna, pulling the latter back into the present. "Kenna, your regular is here for you."
