Chapter 6

“Rosa, I’ve been trying to get across that Anthony of a guy…” Mary, one of the palace maids asked.

“Get across? Don’t tell me it’s literally what I’m thinking” Rosa asked, surprised.

“What are you thinking? C’mon, how would I know that…but don’t you see that the guy has good intentions towards our Luna…he’s really caring if you ask me……” Mary answered.

“I can’t really believe you’re falling for that snitch of a guy, he seems weird. He’s acting up if you ask me” Rosa said, trimming the flowers.

“He’s not a snitch, he’s just a random gentle man who cares for the safety and feelings of our Luna, you shouldn’t take such things for granted” Mary answered, oblivious of her loud voice which caught Rayne’s attention.

“Tell that to our Luna when you get to her presence, I’m sure she’ll rip your head off” Rosa said sarcastically, as they all burst into laughter.

“But come to think of it, don’t you think Sophia the Luna’s friend has an ulterior motive, the way she acts all worked up towards the guy calls for attention, she lite……”

“Hey! Would you stop that, are you aware that you’re talking to the daughter of the man whose wit and prowess saved us from the delivery of the deadly wolfs bane created by the opposition pack” Mary hushed her, referring to an event that occurred years ago towards the Alpha’s demise.

“But that’s not enough reason for Sophia to be a traitor in this aspect, she’s not meant…” She was cut short again

“I still don’t think you should talk about her that way, we all are aware of her slacking attitude but it’s still not enough reason for us to bad mouth her, she’s an omega” Rayne said, giving a wink.

Rayne has caught wind of what the other maid was driving at, but she decided not to let her spill the whole truth because of Mary, their discussion that evening made them cautious of Mary as they knew she has caught the feelings of Anthony and might do all things possible to get attracted to him as she already have a penchant for young Handsome man.

Rayne stood beside the palace windows blind eaves dropping on all the maids’ conversation, in a way she felt Rosa knew much about Anthony but probably hiding it, she observed the way she cut through Abby, the other maid’s words, their eye contact and her choice of words. It showed she still needed to know some things…

“Sophia thinks this is a joke, I’m not taking it lightly with her this time around, its either she dies from my rage or she exits the kingdom to an unknown place, I can’t stand bad culture around me this days” Rayne said, soliloquizing, not knowing when one of the palace guard came in to her.

“My Luna! ! !” he beckoned.

“Huh!” She was startled.

“Fvck! You almost got me jumping out of my skin” She sighed, staring at him.

“I apologize for that My Luna, the Alpha King summons you my Luna” the guard bowed, holding the Alpha rod of leadership as a signet to his order.

“My Dad?” She asked again to be sure.

“Yes, My Luna. He asked that you appear before him in the next hour, apparently we have to be on our way” the guard motioned, getting on his feet.

“I wonder why he wants me to appear before him, he said I’m not to appear before him in the next couple of days” Rayne said, giving him a questionable look.

“Apparently, I can’t lie to you, My Luna, and that’s why his staff is with me,” the guard said, stretching the Alpha’s rod to her to ensure her certainty.

“It’s alright, let me change my clothes, I’ll join you.” Rayne said, walking back to her room .

“My Luna” the guard beckoned, moving towards her “The Alpha King said you should appear before him in the next one hour, before you’re done, time might not be on our side” the guard said respectfully.

“So what are you insinuating? To appear before my father with my dress… Huh?” She asked, giving him a disdainful look.

“No My Luna, don’t mind my insolence My Luna…” The guard bowed once again. “I’d be waiting for you”

“Nope, don’t wait. You go, I’d follow after you” Rayne said, not minding his bows.

“Alright My Luna” The guard said, taking his leave, whilst shutting the door.

Rayne twitched as she saw him leave and she wondered why her father Alpha Fred summoned her.

The incidence that got her banished from the palace was still fresh in her memory as she remembered vividly

* * FLASHBACK * *

* * Some few months ago * *

The Lycan of the Maroon pack Rex Leonard has sent a proposal letter to the Alpha King of the Harrow pack telling him of his willingness to get mated to their Luna on the night they’d appear before the moon goddess.

The proposal was warmly welcomed by Fred, Rayne’s father who in turn responded with an order petitioning him to come as he would warmly welcome him.

On the night before the Moon square day, the alpha summoned Rayne to his palace as he discussed the proposal to her with a view of knowing her interest and her marriage.

“But father, you sure know I can’t be mated to someone like Leo. I can’t and never will I” Rayne fumed as she stood up from the royal chair she was seated on.

“You won’t deny or detest my order in this palace, not when I’m still your Father and the Alpha” Fred fumed alongside with her, standing from his seat.

“But dad, why?” Rayne asked,

“Why?” Fred in turn asked.

“Yes Father, why. Why have you decided to match me alongside with such a human? Do you know how his kingdom is, were you not the one who mobilized the wolfs guards to save his lazy ass mother when she…”

“You wouldn’t hurl abusive words at my presence” Fred sparked, stamping his feet on the stool before him shattering it to pieces. “Rayne, listen to me, irrespective of your view towards him or towards his pack, Leonardo has proved to be one of the best Wolf King that has lived.”

“That has lived? Father that has lived, I can’t believe you’ve brought yourself to accept such clumpy proposal just because you thoughts he’s fit” Rayne said this time shouting. “You’re not fit to be called a father for this act of yours, that’s why, Moth….” Sh e was cut short by Fred’s hand in her neck, lifting her up with his rage filled eyes

“Not from your mouth would that proceed towards me” Fred said, with his bluish eyeball.

He held Rayne’s neck as he pulled her up with her gasping for breath, his rage was kindled towards her as he was prepared to strangle her to death just in that minute.

“Alpha ! ! !”

“My Alpha, calm down” Sophia who just stomped in pleaded as she rushed to the duo.

She humbly bowed at the feet of Alpha, as a sign of respect. Life was almost choked out of Rayne as she gasped for breath whilst trying to yank Fred’s hand off her neck. His grip on her was so strong she almost lost her breath.

Fred looked down on Sophia who clutched his feet pleading with her heads bowed, he dropped Rayne on the floor as she landed with a loud thud.

“You’d never speak rudely to your father after this again” Fred said with rage as he walked back to the throne, side kicking Sophia who hurrie d towards Rayne.

Rayne kept gasping for breath, as she dragged her body on the floor coughing, she held her neck severally as the marks of his hand showed on her neck.

“You’d never bec……” Rayne was cut short, as Sophia quickly covered her mouth with his hands.

“You sure don’t want to get yourself killed this morning?” Sophia asked, still covering her mouth.

“You could have spilled your words while I'd I spill your blood. I’d show you what it means to be an Alpha” Fred said, giving her a wicked grin. “Guards ! ! Guards ! !”

Two wolf guards ran to the palace immediately, bowing.

“Get this crap out of my palace now, and deny her access to the kingdom for five full moons,” Fred ordered, stretching his hands to her.

“My Alpha, you’d do no such thing” Sophia pleaded, going on her knees.

“I don’t go eat my words, get them out” he shouted.

“My Alpha” Sophia still made a move to plead, but was stopped by one of the guards who held her and pulled her back.

Rayne turned her heads around as she viewed her dad with a side eye, she knew her dad wasn’t doing this on his own will, probably the elders wolf council had mis – informed him or properly distracted him from the woes of being mated to a Lycan like Leonardo.

****** BACK TO PRESENT ******

And that marked the day she set eyes on her father, she wasn’t allowed to either visit him or take part in some pack meetings and it was forbidden for the Luna of the kingdom to be exempted from the pack duties.

She walked slowly to her room as she pondered upon the reason as to why her father could beckon on her, she hurriedly proceeded to the bathroom where she had a cold bath. The words of the Maids whom she was eavesdropping on before the guard came in resounded in her memory.

She knew she had to act straight up and beware of those maids, especially Mary. She concluded in her mind to also interrogate Rosa and see if she knew anything about it really.

“So what is your plan now?” Cole asked.

“Plans ? I really don’t have any. Rayne has been acting all folded up all this while, I really wonder why …” Anthony said, gulping down the whole cup of juice given to him.

“And you really don’t wanna pick on her friend, the one you told me about?”

“That bitch? Nah …, she’s some sort of a flirt, and beside she’s an omega…who would ever decides to be mated to an omega…I need a Luna man” Anthony continued

He walked to the seat opposite his chair, picking up a diary he saw an information that jeered him up.

“What’s wrong, what’s the smile for?” Cole asked, getting on his feet also.

“Hey Man! Don’t tell me, you don’t understand this?” Anthony asked, flipping the page of the book to where the full details were written.

“I don’t. Can you tell me?” Cole asked, giving him a go ahead.

“C’mon Cole, you ain’t this dumb right? Think dude” Anthony motioned, as he motioned the book towards Rex…

He read the inscription on the book aloud, still not getting the hint. “THE DANGER OF A LYCAN FATE TO A LUNA – MOON GODDESS MYSTERIES”

“So what has a Lycan’s thrope fate got to do with Rayne…like…Oh !” Cole said, suddenly sounding aware.

“Hold on, is this what I’m thinking of now?” Cole said, staring into Anthony's lightened face.

He took the book from it again, as he read the first few lines of the book. He read it aloud.

“Despite the ancient myths of Lycans being fated to Luna, the book of the Lycanthrope births the ancient mysteries surrounding this myth.

A Luna as it seems is a humble breed tamed with serenity and calmness, its furs most times emit heat as a sign of its mass destructive nature even in its tender nature but not to be messed with…

The war between the Sebastian’s Pack and Harold changed the fate of things, within the twinkle of an eye. The packs who normally would live in harmony and peace became enemies and people who despised themselves.”

Anthony and Cole stared at themselves as they seemed not to comprehend the message behind the account they just read, but it was obvious there was more to it than meets the eye.

They tried reading the remains of the text, but it was all faded. A little part of the text just decrypted that they can find the information and mystery in a disk named “M L T”

“Where would we get that?”
