Blue
“You’re really not coming tonight?” Bree asks
I shake my head at my best friend. “I need more time to think.”
“Are they really that bad?” She asks as she moves around her apartment packing her dresses for the night. “I mean, they were hot. I wouldn’t say no.”
“You’re lucky you’re human.” I sigh
“Really? How many times have you heard me say that about you?”
“There are three big problems with being mated to them. One, I am a Rogue. I don’t belong to any pack. Alpha’s are known for killing Rogues. Two, when they see what’s under this,” I gesture to my clothes “I am as good as dead anyway. Nobody wants damaged goods for a mate. Three, they could force me to do what they want. Treat me as a slave, do what they want to my body. Starve me, lock me away all while they decide whether they are going to share me or fight each other until the death.”
Her jaw is hanging open. “They will fight to the death.”
“Yes. It has been known. Alpha children are always born in sets. Mostly twins, sometimes triplets. Each set is always mated to one female. Some will share. Others will want their mate for themselves. That’s when the fight to the death happens.”
“And you don’t get a say?”
“No. Though Jaxon, the one with the perfect hair. He made it sound like it was up to me on whether I accept them or not.”
“Maybe it is a good thing that I am human.” She mutters as she runs a brush through her dark hair.
“Exactly. It would have been so much easier if I was mated to an omega.” I moan. My future was as good as over.
“But the scars, they are from a human, that isn’t your fault. Not all humans are good. They can’t kill you over that.”
“They won’t care that the scars were caused by a human. If anything, that makes me look weak. You saw them, they will use me however they see fit, I already know it. They won’t care whether I agree or not but I don’t plan to go easily.”
“I will call Vita, I think you need some company tonight. We need to talk this through.”
“I will be fine, Bree. They don’t know where I live. If you see them, just steer clear of them, okay. They know you care for me and they will use that to find out where I am.”
“I’m a big girl, I can stand up for myself.” She shoots a wink in my direction.
If only she knew the reputation of the Black Moon pack. I needed to speak to Antony. I had to know if my brother could help me. Maybe he could let me stay with him. It would solve the problem temporarily.
Waiting for Bree to leave, I call Ant on facetime, patiently waiting for him to answer. When he finally picks up, he doesn’t look happy.
“A strip club! Really Blue. I thought that would be below your standards.”
“I pour drinks, nothing else.” Why was the first thing out of his mouth always an insult?
“You shouldn’t be lowering yourself like that.”
“Well, I have bills to pay, Ant. Student loans that take all my money. The bar pays enough to keep me afloat. But I’m not calling to listen to you moan at me. I need help.”
His face relaxes. He uses his hands to brush back his long dark hair. “What’s wrong little sister?”
“I found out who I’m mated too.”
He smiles “About damn time.” But then he realises how worried I look. “Who? Is it anyone we know?”
“Jaxon and…
“Xander. The Lycan twins of Black Moon. FUCK!”
“Glad to see you feel exactly the same as I do.”
“Do they know who you are, Blue, do they know that you are a Rogue?”
“No.”
“You can’t reject them!” His voice rumbles through the phone.
“I already know that Ant. What am I going to do?” I whine
“They haven’t claimed you yet?”
I shake my head, because I was still confused about that. “They said they would be back at the bar tonight. But Vita has taken care of it.”
“They won’t stop, little sister. They know you are their mate. They will find you. They will drag you back to that place they call home. They will do who knows what to you. No one will be able to stop them. Not even their own father.”
“What do I do?”
“Hope for your sake that they either reject you or treat you well.” He hangs up the phone. Did he just bail on me when I needed him most? I try calling back, hoping that it was just a bad signal. It rings a few times, but he doesn’t pick up. When I try again, I hear the noise that means my number has been blocked. Bastard!
I couldn’t believe it. Ant had been looking after me since mum and dad had driven themselves off a cliff. He had sent me money when I was struggling. He had been there just to chat. Now the moment he finds out who my mates are, he drops me.
“BASTARD!” I launch the phone at the wall, watching as it splinters into millions of little bits.
There is a loud knock at the door. I wasn’t expecting anyone and moved to answer the door. Less than a metre away, I could smell them, both of them. What were they doing here? How had they found me so quickly?
“We know you are in there, Blue. We can scent you just as you can scent us. I suggest you open the door before your little human friend passes out.” I couldn't tell which twin was speaking.
Swinging the door open. The twins were standing tall, holding Bree up between them. Her eyes were wide as she stared at me. Tears threatening to fall. “I had to tell them.” she cries.
Xander rolls his eyes and shoves Bree into me. He steps into our apartment in his jeans and tshirt. His eyes cast a glance over our mismatched furniture as Jaxon notices the smashed phone.
“This is how you live?” Xander asks, screwing his face up.
“Yes.” I mutter as Bree hugs me. She apologises over and over. Her green eyes are full of fear.
“Did they threaten you?” I ask. She shakes her head as she clings to me.
“You will have to excuse my brother.” Jaxon smiles. “He can be a little blunt when he doesn’t get what he wants. Now you," He points at me, "You were supposed to be at the club.”
“I wasn’t feeling great.” I knew he wouldn’t buy it
“Yes, so we heard. You look fine to me. Now, have you thought over our proposal?”
I look over at Xander who is picking things up and putting them down, like he was looking for something.
“Ah, you need more time. No matter, I can wait.” Jaxon brushes by me in his navy blue suit. Making himself comfortable on one of the old tatty sofas.
“I still don’t know what you are offering me. The money is great but I'm not like that.”
“Yes, so we have heard.” Xander mutters as he glares at my human friend. Bree had obviously been trying to help me by telling them a few facts. It was kind of her, but it wouldn’t work, not against these men. They only had one thing in mind.
“Why didn’t you make a move? You have been in the bar every night so far this week. If you already knew that I'm your mate, why didn’t you do anything?”
“You can learn alot from observation.” Jaxon mutters, his eyes lingering on mine. Shit, did he know that I was a Rogue? Did they both know? “Let’s just say, it’s been a pleasure watching you.”
I wrap my arms around my small frame, feeling completely unsettled.“What do you mean?”
“As I said, observation is very telling.” He picks at a piece of lint off his sleeve.
“Jaxon means, we know that you don’t shift. Why?” Xander questions
I glance at Bree, shaking my head. She was the only one who knew why I didn’t. Even Ant didn’t know. He thought I was down here, running through the fields, having the time of my life. It couldn’t be further from the truth.
Jaxon stands, his blue eyes lingering on me. As he moves towards Bree and I, she squeals, backing away. Jaxon circles me. His scent intoxicates my mind, making me struggle to stay focussed. He knew what he was doing. He was using his Alpha ability and the bond to try and get answers out of me. It wouldn’t work, I wouldn’t let it.
Neither of the men speak. Xander was still busy snooping around the apartment. Jaxon was trying to get me to break.
“Someone did something to you.” Jaxon finally speaks and I clamp my mouth shut. “Someone hurt you and now you refuse to shift. Another Lycan perhaps? Or maybe a wolf?”
I hold myself steady. Refusing to look into his blue eyes, knowing that tears were filling mine. His words were bringing back memories that I had spent years trying to forget.
“Are you refusing to answer my brother?” Xander demands from the kitchen.
“Blue, just tell him!” Bree begs me and I shake my head. I didn’t need a reminder. Talking about it doesn’t just bring the memories back. I could smell the woods, the wet ground and I could feel it too. It was like I was being dragged back to the worst moment of my life.
Jaxon comes to a stop in front of me. He has an eyebrow cocked and glances down to my balled hands.
“You have touched a nerve, brother!” Xander mutters as he swans back in the room. “Maybe she will be brave enough to hit you.”
Jaxon’s eyes raise back up to meet mine. I was trying so hard not to blink. I knew the moment I did, the tears would spill. He reaches a hand towards my face and I recoil, making him frown.
“It wasn’t just anyone was it? A man did something to you.” He mutters, his voice is low, angry or maybe annoyed
This time Xander stops and snarls. “Who? A Lycan or a wolf? Give us his name.”
“Neither. It was my brother.” Bree cries
Jaxon. It’s the human that breaks. The one that Blue called her friend. The human is bawling her eyes out as she announces the truth. Blue takes off, slamming a door shut somewhere in the back of the apartment. She wasn’t crying. She was just silent as her friend made the announcement. Angry perhaps, but not at her friend. She was angry with the situation. Angry that we had found out part of the truth.“What the fuck? Your brother hurt her?” Xander is shouting at the human. He is inches from her. Her body was trembling with fear.“He’s dead. We killed him.” The human splutters. She was an ugly crier. Hey eyes puffy, her lips doing a weird pouty thing. Holy Goddess did I hate humans. “Bree, that’s your name isn’t it?” I crouch in front of her, taking her hands in mine and speak in a soothing tone. She nods her head, her red lips parting a little, almost as if she was in a trance. “What did he do to her?”“I can’t. I promised.” She mutters and I feel Xander’s eyes roll from behind me.
XanderI didn’t trust him. I never had. My brother was secretive. Always coming up with plans, trying to figure out things so that they would benefit him. It had been the same for as long as I could remember. But I was curious as to why he wanted Blue so badly. Of all the ones we had been mated too, he had never wanted anything to do with them, so why now? What was so special about this one?He had commented about her blue hair. But why was that so important? I had seen the way he had looked at her too. He had never looked at another woman in the same way. But Blue was damaged goods. It wouldn’t look good, not for us and not for the pack. I had to make him see sense before it was too late.Jaxon sits in my fathers chair in the office. He props a foot up on his knee and spins in the chair like a four year old. “Not long now little brother.” He smirks at me. “The pack will be ours.”“You are a minute older, I’m hardly your little brother.” I mutter, rolling my eyes at him. “But we do n
BlueJaxon insists on driving us. Though he wanted me up front with him. When I said no, Xander tells me that it’s fine to sit in the back with Bree. He may be the quieter twin, but he definitely seemed to care more.Bree spends the whole time trembling. Her hands grasped with mine. Her green eyes wide. I try to give her a reassuring smile. The twins were not here for her. They were here for me.As we arrive in the club, Vita is sitting on the door with the security guy. She gives me a tight smile while looking at the twins. As they start to walk away to their usual booth, she nods for me to go into the back room.Bree had already disappeared to change and Vita led the way to the back room. As we walk past booth thirteen. Jaxon demands to know where I am going.“Vita said she has some new uniforms for me.” He looks to Vita, “You better not be up to something, wolf.”“I have no intentions of doing anything stupid. I am just trying to keep my staff and business looking smart.” She hold
JaxonI stare into her odd eyes. The other women that we had been paired with would have immediately averted their gaze, bowing to us. But Blue stares right back at me. Her arms folded across her breasts. Her chest rises and falls as she waits for me to say something.“I prefer the way that suits look and it’s unlikely that I will need to shift.”“You didn’t say they were comfortable?” She cocks an eyebrow at me. I was almost mad by how easily she was pushing my buttons.“High quality ones are comfortable.” I mutter“So you just want to remind everyone that you have money?”Xander stifles another laugh. I was going to have to speak to him later, especially if he carries on like this.“No. There is nothing wrong with wanting to take care of myself.” I mutter and she shrugs her shoulders, walking away. Her attitude had me annoyed and a little turned on. If she wasn’t so afraid of my touch, it would be a completely different scene right now and she would be screaming my name.“I need a d
XanderI hated the way he was leaning over her, forcing his scent into her face. I knew Jaxon was just doing it to prove that she was his, trying to make her want him. Yet Blue didn’t belong to either of us, not yet.The news of her slowly poisoning herself was a shock to the system. I had never heard of a wolf doing that to themselves. Wolfsbane could do horrible things to a wolf, it never reacted the same way so you could never know what would happen to the wolf. Scars, burns, melting flesh, dissolving organs. I had seen a lot. Jaxon and I had also poisoned our fair share of wolves. But Blue, she was sitting here like she had never touched the stuff. I wondered if Jaxon was thinking the same as me.“How did you know to give yourself the right amount?”“Trial and error,” she mutters as my brother moves away from her.“Wolfsbane is deadly.” I mutter, thinking about the last wolf we had given it too. Blood had poured from their nose, eyes and ears as they begged for the pain to stop.“
BlueFuck! They did know!I feel Bree’s hand tighten around my arm. We have had this conversation multiple times. She knew that me being a Rogue wasn’t good.“Have you ever been in a pack?” Jaxon asks quietly. His blue eyes flickered between me and Xander. His eyes had a slight grey mist to mist to them. Xander’s too.“You don’t need to have a conversation in private.” I mutter. “You’ve figured it out. So reject me.”Jaxon presses his lips together. His nostrils flair just a little. Enough to show he was annoyed.“I am what I am!” I growl"You didn't answer my question. And don't spin some shit about Dark Crescent. I won't buy it."“How did you end up a Rogue?” Xander has his head tilted as he watches me “It wouldn’t have been killing the human, even if that is forbidden.”Jaxon scratches his chin and runs his hand through his neat blonde hair. He turns towards his brother “How the fuck were you right?” “I’ve already told you it doesn’t matter. But we have a choice to make now. Rejec
BlueI hated his touch. He thought he was doing the right thing by wrapping his arms around me, but I freeze, waiting for him to let go. He keeps telling me that I’m okay, but the longer he held me, the more I thought I would scream as the memory from that night comes flooding back.“Let go Jaxon.” I just about hear Xander over the throbbing beat of my heart.“She’s panicking. She’s holding her breath.”“She doesn’t like being touched.”“I’ve got her joggers.” Bree comes towards me. Her eyes rise upwards. “Let her go. She’s going to pass out else.”Jaxon’s arms release me and I stumble forward, righting myself.“Put these on and sit.”She hands me my black joggers and pulls a chair out for me as I try to calm my breathing. What the hell had happened?Bree and Jaxon watch me in silence. Xander had Vita pinned to a chair. “Thanks.” I mutter as I feel the jacket around me.“Are you okay now?” Those blue eyes stare into mine, searching for some kind of answer.“Why Vita? Why did you do th
XanderIf Blue had said no. We wouldn’t have left anyway. Jaxon had already said that he would find a way for us to stay with her for a few days. It was why we already had spare clothes and things in the car. Vita just gave us the perfect reason.Blue helps the human lock up as Jaxon and I wait out front. “Is there ever a time you don’t get your way?” I mutter sarcastically as I lean against the wall.“Fate, brother. You have to admit that if it wasn’t for Vita, we would be spending time fighting to make her our mate. At least now, she has agreed to this deal.”“Look, don’t get me wrong. I am curious about her, but at the end of the day, she is still a Rogue and we can’t change that.”He cocks an eyebrow at me “Why can’t we?”“Rogues are Rogues for a reason, Jaxon. You know that as well as I do.”“What if the reason she is a Rogue isn’t because of something she did?” He challenges me.“What?”“Her parents. Both of them would have been wolves, right?”“Well yeah, but what’s that got t
