Chapter 4: Amon

Night of the Ball

I was on stage and gave a slight speech to our guests and why they were here besides celebrating the King's birthday. I called the Royal Beta, Gamma, and Delta to join the stage as they would be there to offer their speeches to their friend and King. The music stopped playing and the Royal Guards announced the entry of our King, the room felt his aura as we all bowed as the women curtsied. After a while we realized Aidan had found his mate and went over to her, the people in the room saw and heard that Lady Bramble was his mate and future Queen, I walked over to congratulate him and then I saw her the most beautiful female in my existence the one I will mate when the time is right.

Present Day

I’ve been riding outside the castle to our secret meeting place as we need to move fast, the King has found his mate and we need to get things in place if this coup is to work without many casualties. It is particularly cold outside today, the leaves are falling now, and soon it will be winter. I have been an elder for the past six hundred years, taking over from the High Elder after his untimely death. I’m 5’11' with a slim build and could pass for someone in their mid-twenties, I have black hair and dark brown eyes with a hint of silver showing I’m the new High Elder. I have not always agreed with the King and his policies, and for me, it was more personal than anything else, that is why we rebelled and we all think that we should put someone we can control on the throne.

King Aidan is very intelligent and is not easy to manipulate, he likes doing things by the book but sometimes rules have to be bent a little to reach the desired result we want. When his father Ivar died in battle, we figured he wouldn’t want the title as he always stated he didn’t want that type of responsibility but unfortunately, he was an only child, and his brother was born from one of King Ivar's mistresses and she was sent away by the Queen never to heard of again. He always stated he wasn’t ready, but when he was away it was the best time to strike and the king was killed.

King Aidan is very powerful and will not be so easy to remove once the second part of the ritual is complete. He needs to coronate his Queen and mark each other under the blood moon to solidify their reign. It has always been our ritual and we need to move now, time is running out. I arrived at our meeting point and the guards let me into the cave where we planned to bury the king for eternity. My other elders, Drogo Ritchie, and Erik Belmont are waiting for me as they are in on the plan to overthrow the King, it has been twenty years in the making and we will not falter, we are so close to our dreams of a very wealthy and powerful kingdom among all the supernatural species.

There are also the seven alphas who want to avenge their fathers in the war, who were executed after being found as traitors, they lost everything including their good reputations among other packs. We also have rogues who have formed their pack and the Rogue King's son, who wants to avenge his dad. He came into the plan in the beginning when he found out that the Rogue King was his biological father and that he would sit on the throne once Aidan was dead, he was power-hungry just as much as most of us were and we knew it would be better for our kingdom.

I walked down the dark corridor and the men waiting bowed their heads in respect, I asked where the new king was and Roman appeared out of the dark smiling. I knew we made a good choice in choosing him to take the throne, he was well-versed in business matters about the kingdom and he was the answer to all of our dreams. All the men bowed, showing their respect for the future King as they knew they would be more wealthy and powerful once the coup was over. I didn't trust Roman but he was who the council and other alphas voted on and who was me to go against them if I wanted to live, I just needed to make sure everything ran smoothly and quickly without a mess, we needed to do this so the people in the Kingdom accepts Roman without a rebellion.

As I walked into the secret meeting place to meet with my loyal subjects, they all bowed, showing their respect and I must admit this type of power feels great. My wolf Troy was accepting and prepared for this new power we will have after the coup and coronation of the New King and Luna Queen. "Welcome," I heard Amon say with a slight bow, "It's time we got our plan in order we don’t have much time as the blood moon is in two weeks," "What do you have planned Amon?" I said with authority, Seth, one of the alphas, stated, "We are your subjects and I hope we can be of service and serve our king well, as it will be beneficial to all of us."

He also made sure that because his territory is one of the biggest he wanted something in return for his loyalty and I promised him he would be well rewarded once I was a King. I smiled and my wolf Troy was happy that our plan was in motion as he wanted to remind them that he wanted Adina and Lily as our Queen. As time passed and the meeting went down, everyone knew their part to play, even Addy, once we got her on board, she was our way of weakening the king as she was a witch and the key element to bringing him down.
