Budding Connection

Harper couldn’t help but stare at Damon. Or at least at his eyes from the rearview mirror of the car. It has been only days but it felt way longer than that. It’s as if it has been months and the tension building between them was getting out of hand.

Twice in the row, Damon almost hit a deer or a dog passing the road. It was because he was looking at her from the mirror as well. Something that made Gio and Nerbert look at each other and roll their eyes.

“Is anyone hungry? We can stop at a convenience store.” – Damon did it again. Looking at the mirror instead of looking ahead.

“We’re good, my king.” – Gio and Nerbert almost said in unison

“How about you, my queen?” – Nerbert asked

“I guess.”

She was starving. The past days, the only food she consumed were water and if fortunate enough, bread. She had no dime with her, only that small amount of money given by a kind Samaritan. She already used that for that failed car ride.
