“Jason, if this isn’t going to work for you, then I would prefer we call it quits now.” I was stunned at the sound of my own words! I sounded so cold! When did I become this girl?

“No, that is not what I meant.” He sighed, pulling his fingers through his hair, but before he could finish what he was going to say, my brother arrived, and we had to sit down for dinner. I wasn’t spared by his mother, who had far too many questions about her future grandchildren and when we were planning on starting a family. I didn’t have answers since Jason and I hadn’t talked about it yet, which made things uncomfortable. What made me even more uncomfortable was that he didn’t stand up to his mother on my behalf!
