KEENA

I don't know how long I have been holding onto Ward's hand and talking to him. Nurses have come in and out of the room several times to take his vitals. Each time they give me a pitiful stare as I ask several questions about how he is doing. I am given the same answer every time. I am told that they are doing all that they can and we have to wait for his lycan to awaken so he can begin to heal correctly. Each time I am told the same answers I get more and more frustrated. I cannot help but think that they are keeping things from me.

My head is lying on the edge of Ward's bed while I hold his hand. I fight the urge to doze off. I want to be awake when he wakes up. The door to his hospital room opens slowly and I can hear someone walking in but I refuse to take my eyes off of Ward to see who it is.

"Princess," Ward's doctor says gently, "you need to rest as well. You are still healing too."

"I want to be here when he wakes up," I say, not taking my eyes off of Ward
