Chapter 16: Her Fears

I enjoyed it a lot to get to know Jackson and making him get to know me. We talked for a long time, not even realizing how fast time was passing until the sun began lowering in the sky, and Jackson noticed out of the open doors we had let stay like that so the cool breeze could come inside the house.

“Shit, I think we are almost past dinner,” he whispered.

I turned and watched as the sun was on its way down, too. It was crazy how fast time went just talking and spending time together, but something deep in me was also pleased as we had spent all that time together. It made me feel deeper connected to him.

“Shall we go eat?” he asked.

I nodded, and he grabbed my hand as he led me to where the kitchen was, but as he made me sit at the kitchen island, I realized something.

“I can’t cook,” I told him.

He chuckled. “That’s all right. I can.”

“You can?”

“My mom was taught it, and she taught me. I am not a chef, but I can make us food,” he promised me.
