“Sleep. Grieve. Forget,” I whispered to her.

I sent her a small smile before her eyes closed. I flashed to her side before her body dropped to the ground. Cradling her gently in my arms, I looked down at my little mate.

The pain of what I was doing began hitting me harder and harder every second that I looked down at her. Her face looked calm and peaceful; an expression that wasn’t there while I was behaving like how I had been for so many years before meeting her—cold, uncaring, brusque, and an ass.

I brought her closer to my chest and cherished the seconds I had her in my arms, not caring of those pack members watching. I inhaled her scent, letting it register in my soul and body. I squeezed my eyes tightly as I kissed her forehead, her cheeks and then her lips that had driven me crazy earlier.
