“You both look good but I promise once I am done with you, the two of you will look prettier,” she said, flying away from us and towards the mass of blackness that had been an evil sigil.

“But why did you choose us? Why in particular us?” I asked, feeling desperate by now to get the answer to that question at least. I wanted to know if by any chance I had been the reason for this destruction, if by some mistake I had started this craziness that would soon swallow the world with it.

“Oh did I forget to take away your voices,” She said, coming closer again but not enough that I would be able to see her face properly, “But since you asked I’ll tell you.”

“Power,” the whisper was right next to my ear when she said it, making me snap my gaze to the side and back to the place where she was to see her still standing there.
