39. True Faces

Amelia looked scared. Her eyes were wide. She had it coming for a long time. She had been torturing me for the mistake someone else made. I wasn't the problem. She was. They were.

I was only a kid, who was born out of wedlock, because they made the mistakes. Sometimes, I could understand where Amelia was coming from, but this had become so hard for me, always living my life, looking behind my shoulders. I didn't want that anymore.

I walked towards where Storm was standing. I pressed my hand to his wound and he winced again.

"I am sorry," I whispered. "Now, move, Storm. This has been going on for so long and I am tired of it."

I pressed the dagger against her throat and Amelia whimpered. "Not so brave anymore, are you?" I pressed until I saw the first drop of blood.

"Stop. Please stop, Elyn."

I whirled around, my eyes widening in surprise.

"Reyna..." I whispered as I turned around to see my sister standing there. Her eyes were wide and tears streaked down her cheeks.
