"What? Is there something on my... Why're you smiling like that?" I took off my eyeglasses and frowned at my mother.

Covered up by her striped pajamas, she munched on the last slice of papaya, grinning like I had boogers stuck all over my face. "Just imagining you in a white smock. Looking like Adriana Lima in the hallways doing her rounds."

I scoffed and turned off my laptop. I'd been skimming a Microbiology e-book and some medical journals for our next assessment. My last functioning brain cells were already complaining, more than eager to call it a night. "I dunno why you keep saying I look like her. I don't."
