Alora had returned to university three months ago she was set to return to Italy after her last essay and exam was finished. She walked alone and she was meeting Liana soon. She walked across campus as she heard gun shots, students ran screaming, saying there were men shooting randomly at the campus shouting out some girls name and if she didn’t go to them they’d kill everyone on campus.

She swallowed nothing like  this usually happens. It’s usually so quiet, but not today she wondered who they were after as she got to the edge of the campus. The shots got louder, many of the students were bleeding, some were dead. Her heart raced, the car skidded and the door opened. “Get in.”

She didn’t hessite she slid into the car closing the door. The tyres screeched as the car sped away causing her to fall on something hard. She looked up and he smiled. “Raven.”

“Don’t worry you’re pretty head is safe.”

“Shit Liana.”

“She’s safe princess, trust me.”

“What’s going on?”

The syringe went into her arm. The liquid pulled into it. She fell dizzy as he pulled it away. Her eyes closed.

She slowly came round where the hell was she? This  wasn’t happening to her again. He looked at her and smiled. “Raven?’ She slurred trying to get up.

“Take it easy, the drugs take time to wear off.”

“Why the fuck did you drug me?”

“You were asking too many questions.”

“Well I’m asking them again. What the hell was going on at the university?”

“Really Alora? You’re going to ask me that dumb question.”

“I am. I heard they were looking for a girl.”

“They was, you. Gianni asked me to go and get you.”

“Why?”

“He hasn’t told you has he?”

“Told me what?”

“He said he’d tell you at the wedding.”

“Tell me what Raven? I have a right to know. People I knew were at that university, my friends were there.”

“I’ll tell you. Calm down.”

“Shit Liana.”

“Like I told you, she’s safe.”

“Where is she?”

“Safe and that’s all you need to know.”

“Where are we?”

“Safe.”

“Is that all? just safe, no explanation why they were after me?”

“You’re not going to like this.”

“Just fucking tell me?!”She said angrily.

“We are the Mafia hunny.”

“What!”

“The Mafia.”

“I heard, I don’t understand Gianni isn’t mafia.”

“He is hunny, so is your friend and her brother.”

Her face paled she knew that they’d been hiding something from her all these years, but had dismissed it when they told her the security around the house was necessary cause they’d got broken into, the same excuse had came out of Gianni’s mouth when she’d asked him when he lived in the U.K. she chose not to ask again. What the fuck had she got herself in to?

“He promised me he’d tell you at the weeding I believed him. Though I was surprised that it was you.” He looked at her. “He mentioned a girl back in the U.K. he’d left behind and he wanted to go and visit her. I didn’t know it was you until the night in the club. When he mentioned your name I assumed it was you, so I done some research and found out you two were full on for two years whilst he was in the U.K.  I wanted to get to know you, but that was short lived. I backed away from you because I knew him better than anyone. He’s evil Alora.   I’ve seen what he can do. I didn’t want you to have any part in it, but he made you a part of it by making you his wife.”

“I don’t understand.”

“This isn’t going to be easy for me to say you’re a really nice girl Alora, but he only married you so he could take his father’s business over.”

She swallowed so it was all an act all along and she’d fell for it, she felt sick to the stomach.

He reached his hand out touching her face she flinched. “I’m here to take care of you. I promised Gianni I would.”

“Why bother? his main concern is him taking over his father’s business, not me.”

“That’s not true Alora and you know it.”

“Do I? I married him cause I had no choice, now I know for sure I know nothing about him I never have.  I’m not even sure what his motives are good or bad.”

“I know he loves you.”

“Yeah right sure he does. Getting married to take over a business isn’t very appealing Raven.”

“I know. I’m not sticking up for him. I’m just saying give him a chance to explain everything.”

“I’ll think about it.”

He smiled leaning forward pressing his lips on hers kissing her. He moved away, she looked at him, her eyes looked so lost in his. “I want to see Liana.”

“You will once it’s safe.”

“And when exactly will that be?”

“I’m not sure.”

“I have to go back to university and..”

He shook his head. “Sorry no can do.”

“But I have one last exam.”

“We’re too far away. And besides they’ve closed it off.” He said putting the tv in to the news coverage about the gunmen who shot randomly at students many dread and some are being treated. Saying the police are looking into it as a hit. The university will be closed till further notice and all exams took will go to final grading.

“They’ll never find them will they?”

“No.”

Tears slipped from her eyes. He wiped them away. “You’re safe so is Liana.”

“But all those that lost their lives.”

“This is our life hunny, get used to it.”
