Alicia’s POV

“Hmm, hmm,” I hummed under my breath the melody to a song I knew by heart - a perfect love song that always stirred my spirit and made me smile.

The cafe was teeming with patrons this autumn afternoon, as the weather was perfect. The entire cafe had a scent of the signature pumpkin spice drink that everyone and their mother loved, and talks of the Halloween parties to occur filled the air.

I was not part of the conversation, as quiet as I was in front of anyone who wasn’t Acker and Mikael, and I was also nearly done with my shift thankfully enough.

“Customer on table three,” a voice called out and I nodded with thanks to Gina, the cashier with an eye on the tables.

“I’m on it,” I replied, picking my notepad and straightening my posture. “Just a couple minute left until my shift ends,” i remarked to myself.

Unfortunately, the new girl, Lola heard it. She scoffed loudly and caught the attention of our other colleagues who stared at both of us.
