Nora laid in her own bed, ignoring the knocks on her door meant for dinner. She had lost all of her appetite. She even thought she might throw up. The pit of her stomach was churning with discomfort with every thought that passed through her head.
She couldn't believe it. She would not have believed it if she hadn't read it herself. The man who had murdered her father, the one she saw transiently from the peak in her closet.
It was Mateo. The reason for all of her suffering up until now. Mateo had killed her father and ever since then, Amanda had lost her mind. She was no longer the same person. And the consequence had to be suffered by the twins.
She could not help but think that if things had turned out differently. If her father was still alive, then her mother would not have behaved that way. They could have been a happy family. Even if Amanda wasn't the best person, they would have had their dad to balance things out.
