Elijah:

Anastasia followed me inside the house knowing that I would most probably end up doing something that I might regret. She did try to get me out of it, tried to talk to me, even tried to stop the car, but my mind was fixed on this; I had to find out what happened. If what Verone said was true, then things were a whole lot more messed up that she would ever know.

My hands shook as I approached the living room. Aunt Nikita sat there by Iris’s side as both watched TV. Both were smiling at whatever it was they were watching. Food was on the coffee table in front of them, some of it eaten, some untouched, some were snacks for the kids when they came down being hungry until dinner.
