Chapter Twenty Six

A loud sound woke her up, there was darkness all around but she was sure of it, it wasn’t a dream she was sure of what she heard.

It was a gun shot.

Amelia rolled off the bed, she hadn’t realized when she had fallen asleep, she remembered promising herself to stay awake.

“Xavier” she called out, her voice filled with fear, surely he could have heard a noise so loud.

“Xavier” she called again as she tapped at the space in his bed where he was supposed to be only to find it completely empty. The dread kicked in.

She walked around the room, blindly trying to find where the switch to the lights were, only to come out empty, this wasn’t her room and she hadn’t taken time to study the place when she got in.

The sound came again, this time it wasn’t even one gunshot, they were multiple shots, fear consumed her, her legs shook as she walked around in the darkness, feeling tears slip down her eyes.
