Chapter 28

Damian’s POV

I watched as her shoulder dropped and all of the self esteem she’d gathered went down the drain, it was easy to tell that she was drunk as she staggered and coughed and laugh dryly before saying what she wanted to next.

“You don’t want me?” She asked in a low tone and I nodded.

“I don’t, At least not in the kind of way you might think I should want you,” I added staring at her dead in the eyes and it was as though our eyes were glued to each other because even she didn’t blink, “Now, that night. It was nothing more than any other night to me.” I added.

I lied, I only wanted it to be nothing more than any other night but it was more, it really was more than just the kiss and the intense intimacy we had.

“I’m not,” I started, taking a step closer to her and reaching out to touch her again but she pulled away from me and I completely understood, I was breaking her heart and I would break it even more so I don’t really expect her to still yearn for me.
