Chapter 5

Isabella Pov:

After cleaning all the rooms, I walked out with a smile on my lips for having the energy to finish everything on time.

I had a feeling the men were no longer at home because I heard cars driving out when I was cleaning.

Shaking my head, I walked back to the kitchen, my tummy made a groan reminding me how hungry I was.

When I arrived at the kitchen, Lisa looked up at me.

"Aw, you look so stressed sweetie." She said walking toward me.

I forced a smile as Lisa stood in front of me. She put a hand on my shoulder and squeezed it.

"Why don't you sit down, I'll get you something to eat." She said as she pointed toward the chair.

I sighed and sat down, my mind racing with thoughts. I couldn't help but wonder what was going to happen next. I felt like I was in a nightmare that I couldn't wake up from.

Lisa placed a plate of food in front of me, and I stared at it blankly. I couldn't bring myself to eat.

"Come on sweetie, you need to eat. You're no good to anyone if you don't take care of yourself," Lisa said, her voice filled with concern.

"I just don't know what to do," I said, my voice cracking.

Lisa sat down next to me and put a hand on my back.

"I know this is hard, but you have to stay strong. You have to find a way to get through this."

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. But my mind was racing with a million thoughts.

"But I'm scared, I don't know Lisa," I mumbled looking at my fingers.

"Alright, why don't you eat first, then we can talk about it." She said softly.

With a nod, I ate the food slowly, trying to get enough In my tummy because I had a small stomach.

I continued to eat slowly, the taste of the food barely registering as I wrestled with the overwhelming situation.

Sitting beside me, Lisa offered silent support as I grappled with fear and uncertainty.

With each bite, I couldn't shake the feeling of vulnerability.

The clatter of utensils against the plate echoed in the kitchen, a stark contrast to the heaviness in my heart

Despite Lisa's comforting presence, the fear lingered, and I felt a knot tightening within me.

Once the plate was nearly empty, Lisa broke the silence, her voice gentle yet firm.

"Now, tell me what's going on. We'll face this together, Isabella."

With a breath.

"Before I came here, Nate saved me from my boyfriend's friends, I don't know how he knew something wasn't right so he took me in," I said.

Lisa nods.

Smiling at me to continue.

"Now uhm, he asked me if I want to go back or stay and I'm not sure because I'm scared if my boyfriend finds me he would hurt everyone and I don't want that," I said quietly.

A chuckle left Lisa's lips.

"Sweetie, don't you know who Nate is?" She asked, her head tilted down.

Shaking my head, her eyes wide out before smiling at me.

"I don't have to tell you, with time he would, and I think he likes you because Nate never helps people." She said,

"I'll stay if I were you, he will protect you, all you have to do is do the work he gives you and that's it." She said,

Nodding my head, I smiled at her.

"Thank you, Lisa," I said before standing up.

"He was looking for you though." She said,

"Uhm who?" I asked softly.

"Nate, he asked where you were." She said,

"Oh," I whispered looking at my fingers, having no idea what to say.

Lisa giggled before shaking her head.

"I want to bake, you can go change then come help me out." She said,

"Ok," I whispered as I walked out of the room.

The more I moved the more, I kept thinking.

So should I just accept this?

This is going to be my new life now.

For some reason, it felt good to be true.

I wanted a job and I got one, but now I no longer have Mike in my life.

When I arrived at my room door.

I pushed open the door, and my eyes went back to the door where I saw that hand.

I kept asking myself if I should go back and check or just ignore it.

With a breath, I walked into my room.

I'm not doing anything to get anyone angry, I can't risk this opportunity.

Isabella, feeling a mix of emotions, pondered the uncertainties of her situation as she entered her room. The lingering question about the mysterious hand at the door tugged at her thoughts, but the prospect of safety and protection offered by Nate provided a semblance of comfort. Balancing the trade-offs between her old life with Mike and this new, unfamiliar one, Isabella grappled with the complexity of her decision.

As she contemplated her choices, the contrast between the security offered by Nate and the absence of Mike became increasingly apparent. The notion of accepting this new life brought a sense of both relief and trepidation. Changing into different clothes, Isabella couldn't escape the weight of her thoughts.

The mention of Nate looking for her added another layer of intrigue to the situation.

Unsure of what to expect, Isabella couldn't shake the feeling that her life had taken an unexpected turn.

Despite the uncertainty, the opportunity for a fresh start and a job resonated with her.

Heading back to the kitchen to help Lisa with baking, Isabella grappled with the decision ahead, her mind a whirlwind of conflicting emotions and unanswered questions.

Maybe this was meant to happen.

Maybe God answered my prayers.

I thought as I made my way downstairs.

I just have to be good and work hard.

Just have to keep everything in check and I'm good to go.

Who knows I might get paid and leave this country.

With those thoughts in my head, I walked into the kitchen.

Lisa gave me a smile before telling me to come closer.

"Ready?" She asked with a smile.

"Uhm ready," I whispered but it sounded more like a question In my head.
