Chapter 65: Power Trip

Callie bent down to inspect the door closer. The panel looked no bigger than the door of a mini fridge, held together by a latch connected to some branches, tied together with a piece of thick wire.

She pulled on the wire with frantic movements, her brain working in overdrive. After managing to unlock the door, she pushed it open and peered inside.

The smell hit her first. It was damp, and from the little light that came in, perhaps it was moldy too. It was dangerous for anyone to be left in here from the mold alone, they could suffer serious diseases.

“Evan?” she called out, voice trembling. “Are you guys in here? Simon?”

Faint scrambling caught Callie’s attention and it had her on her knees crawling into the tiny space to get a better look.
