48. Reunion

...Haley POV...

It's been one year since I last saw Damian. Seeing him now is a bittersweet moment. From the moment I saw him and the look of belonging in his eyes, I wanted to run and jump into his arms. But I couldn't wait for so many reasons. The first was that when I saw him look at me, it reminded me of the last time we were together. Of how I caught him sleeping with another woman in our bed just hours after I'd been assaulted.  That ache was like nothing else. No one truly understood how powerful a heartbreak could truly be until they've lost the love of their lives. After I fled New York, I went to California. Since it was on the other side of the states, I knew Damian wouldn't even think of looking for me there. I figured he would just assume that I went back to London. 

I had worked on an account for a client years ago that was based out of California. They had wanted to hire me privately for a few more jobs they had coming up. However, I politely d
