Elizabeth was frantic, and her feelings raced alongside the vehicle. She clung firmly to her phone to mask her panic. She had to occasionally check her phone's screen because it was muted.

She quickly covered the screen's glow with her hand whenever a new message came in. Her sudden movement startled the driver and unintentionally caused her elbow to slam against the window.
