Maisie woke up the next morning and went through her routine in a state of unawareness. She tried to steady herself as she came out of her room and went to the kitchen where Zach sat with a cup of coffee like every other morning.
Only this morning the only word they exchanged was greeting, Zach told her that he wants to use the day to figure out who he is, she told him that she is okay with that idea then they bid goodbyes as she went off to work.
It has never been as tense as that even when she didn't believe he existed when he first came. Maisie used her hands to rub her eyes. She cannot go on like this, she needs to control herself better, but she can't.
She can't because she loves him, and he didn't even love her. Betty was right, she always falls for whoever shows her an atom of kindness, but this was not like others she had been experiencing, no! She is in love. Totally
Maisie came home to feel her apartment eerily warm. She gasps as tears fall from her eyes, she didn't need someone to help her decode the conclusion that Zach was gone forever. He had finally gone wherever it was that dead people always go to when dead. Yet, that didn't stop her from running to every corner of her apartment screaming Zach name. He never appeared. He was gone. Maisie collapsed in front of his favorite couch, she could still see the indention made from his body ... Tears flowed down her cheeks, but she didn't mind them, she just continued to stare at the indention made on the couch.****A while later, she dragged herself off the ground as she moved to her room and out of habit backed her door. There was nobody there to watch her so there was no need for her to lock the door, yet she still did it. She dragged herself into the sho
The next day at work. Maisie kept her dark glasses on as she went around sorting her desk. " Hey, you went out for drinks and didn't invite me. " Anthony said as a greeting when he approached Maisie's desk. " Drinks? " Maisie asked in confusion. " The dark glasses. You must have one hell of a hangover. " Anthony said as Maisie chuckles. " I wish that was the case. " Maisie replied dryly. " So, what happened? " Anthony asked. " I lost someone close to me. " Maisie said giving Anthony the story she had already prepared for this occasion because she knew that she was lucky to get away with wearing her dark glass, sooner or later she would have to remove them and then the questions will start. Guessed they started before she removed her glasses. " My condolences. " Anthony said sympathetically but Mai
Jeffrey walked close to Zach bed, this was the closest he could get to his brother without making the hospital to be suspicious of what he was doing with his brother, he could lean over him but so far his hands was hysterical by his side. They would never suspect that he was responsible for anything, and it was a good thing that the surveillance of the hospital was just a video with no sounds. Now Jeffery heard that comatose patients are sometimes aware of their environment and that was why their family always remains close to them to give them words of encouragement so that they will not give up. If they were discouraged wouldn't it be the opposite? It wasn't like he could ask anybody about it so he just had to go with his hypnosis on the issue. Jeffery stared at Zach with hatred as he thought about the perfect life Zach had, the perfect girlfriend, the genius who was already w
" I can't believe that you are awake. " Malcolm Stephens said with tears his eyes even if he would never let them fall. He wasn't the type of man who was emotional but after seeing his son stare at him with his brows wrinkled like he didn't understand why his father was making so much fuss - one of Zach's favourite expressions when it comes to his father - Malcolm thought that he would never see his son's eyes opened to look at him at least not anytime soon. " Of course I am awake. Seeing is believing, you should believe. " Zach said as Sebastien chuckles. " smart ass. " " Nobody knew that you were going to wake up. You completely caught us off guard. " Constantine said while Sebastien rolled his eyes. " In a coma or not, Zachary will always be Zachary. And Zachary has never been predictable. " Sebastien said as Malcolm smiled knowing what was coming next.
It has been a week and Maisie was barely existing, she went through the motions of her everyday life but that was what it was. Motions. Nothing more nothing less, she couldn't feel anything except grief. Even her memories of Zach was still covered with grief. That they were not in speaking terms before he left. That was bad timing but knowing Zach he would have scoffed and said that nothing can go wrong or bad when he is around. But he was not around and everything was falling into pieces, Maisie never knew how much she relied on him until he was gone and she is still trying to cope. It was a good thing she thought of that story which she told her Co-workers. So now when they see her, they know that she is mourning somebody but she knew that she couldn't continue like this. Her work had become a distraction from guilt and she has been flying through her cases, solving everything with ligh
Zach sighed, he had been going out with all the curvy women he could remember he had met at a certain point in time since he left the hospital but none of them was her, he didn't know who the 'her' was but he just knew that they weren't her. And he knew this because he expects that the minute he sees her that they would connect like they already did. The only reason why he believes that he is not losing his mind was that every other part of his life was okay. All except his love life or his fantasies about the woman who he had not met yet. He was okay, he had been okay for the past two months which he spent looking for her. Something keeps telling him that he would see her when it was time and not a minute before and with the fact that he was okay. It was about time he resumed his work, he had suffered Jeffery for more than a year by dumping his workload at him, Zach snorted at tha
" I heard that he is coming in today. " was the first thing that Maisie heard when she came to work that morning with her hair up in a new stylish hairstyle. One of the things she indulges in now is her appearance. Pampering her self now makes it easier to get through the day, one step at a time, and helps her in keeping her mind preoccupied." About time he came back. He has been playing around for two months since he woke up. " another lady whispers. " But I am happy that he is back. "" Everyone is happy that he is back. If he didn't come back, the firm might have to be closed soon, at least we get to keep our jobs. " " And he is single now that Vivienne has announced her wedding to his stepbrother. " " That is a Ho, through and through. She has no shame at all. " " Exactly
Zach arrived at his firm the next day to a welcome party being held. At least some people were still faithful to him. His assistant has been one of them. Taylor must have been the one to organize the party and although he was not a huge fan of parties, he allowed them when they were welcoming somebody new into their fold. And he had been out of commission for a year so that practically made him a new member. " Thank you for the party, Taylor. " Zach said when he finally caught up with his assistant. " Oh no. It wasn't me. It was somebody else who arranged to give you a welcome. " Taylor replied with a smile." Somebody else? " Zach asked bewildered. He knew that his lawyers hardly saw him and even if they did, it was from a distance. There was nobody who would have been seeing him every day and liked him enough to prep
