"Tell me, it doesn't matter, if it's here, in your living room, in the company. In due time, you're going to tell me," he comments sardonically.

"Well, I know Arya said she would rather not get married. But if you want to secure your future, you have to convince her."

"Dad, you heard her, she doesn't want to, and to be honest with you, neither do I," he replies flatly.

"I don't understand why, if she's good for you, and you're good for her, what's to stop you from getting married?"

Ayden, who can't bring herself to explain the real -why- to her father, takes another tack.

"Let's just say that neither of us believed in what you call the "institution of marriage," he explains, hoping that enough for his father. "We're both functioning fine, as we are."

"And you're fine with that? Your children would be illegitimate!" she exclaims vehemently.

Ayden tries to stifle a smile, but he's actually starting to get annoyed.
