Chapter 8: Falling Into Him

Addy’s POV

“Addy Wake up! It’s just a nightmare little moon!”  I am woken up with Tristan shaking me in his arms.  I look at him and I know I must have been screaming in my sleep.

He looks down at me and wipes the tears from my face.  I am looking around wildly trying to figure out where I am.  I was stuck in my nightmare again.

“Hey, little moon.  Look at me.” Tristan grabs my face with both hands and looks me into the eyes.

“Hey, you are safe, you are okay little moon.  Talk to me, what was going on?”  He wipes the tears that are still falling down my face.

“Look at me Addy, you are safe.  Do you hear me?”  I look into his eyes and shake my head. “I am safe.” I respond weakly.

“Addy, how long have you been having nightmares.” Tristan asks as he releases my face and pulls away a little bit so we can talk.

“Since dad died.” I respond quietly.

“What are you seeing in your nightmares?” He asks.

“The moment I get taken away from dad,” I respond.  I have never told anyone about that night, and what I witnessed, about dad’s words and the way he looked at me.

“Addy tell me what happened.”  Tristan said has he ran his fingers through my hair and down my back.

I take a deep breath, and realize, I need to tell him.  Maybe it will help the nightmares.

“We were both running out of the house, and he was telling me to go to the packhouse lockdown room.  I yelled at him while we ran that I didn’t want to leave him. The rouges were getting closer to us.  He commanded me to go and pushed me towards the pack house.  He turned around and started right towards the fight.  I was running toward the packhouse, but a rouge cut me off.  Dad came out of no where and tackled the rouge down and ripped his throat out.  I looked around us, and saw more rouges headed towards us.”

I stopped as I felt Tristan wipe tears from my face.  I didn’t even know I was crying. I took a deep breath and continued.

“Dad got between me and the rouges and then several other warriors built a barrier between the rouges and me.  Dad turned to Gamma Blake and said, “take the Luna to the packhouse now.”  I looked around for Luna Maria, but I didn’t see her anywhere.  He was looking at me when he yelled that at Gamma Blake, and the look in his eyes, it just…I don’t know, it was weird.  Like he was trying to tell me something.”

I shook my head. “Anyways, Gamma Blake threw me over his shoulder and carried me to the packhouse.  I looked back and I saw Dad get surrounded by rouges.  I was so scared and so confused.  Dad told him to get the Luna, but he grabbed me.  When we got the lockdown room at the packhouse, I realized that Luna Maria was already there.  I figured she must have ran ahead of us and Gamma Blake just grabbed me instead.  I was so confused and scared.”

Tristan just looked at me with wide eyes. “Addy, Luna Maria was in the lockdown room as soon as we were notified of the attack.”

I just looked at him with a confused eye, not really sure what to say.  “I guess…maybe dad misspoke... or maybe he thought he saw Luna Maria.  I don’t know.”

Tristan wrapped his arms around me tighter, and just mumbles, “I don’t know either.”  He holds me for a while and wipes the tear stains from my face and smiles.

“Why don’t you get up and get dressed.  I will cook us breakfast.  I have to go to the packhouse this morning to go over a few things, but then remember we are going to Jimmy’s for lunch and then we will come back and cook good cookies” he smirks at me, “and deliver the grief baskets together. How does that sound?”

“I like that plan,” I tell him as I give him a tight hug.  We both get up and he heads out of my room, before shutting the door he looks back at me and smiles softly.  “I love you little moon.”  “I love you to big bro.” I reply with a smile of my own as I head to the bathroom.  I shower and get dressed and then head down to the kitchen.  Tristan is there finishing up breakfast and hands me a plate at the counter as I sit down.  “Thanks,” I reply as he hands me a cup of coffee.

“So, Braxton is headed over.” I tensed up at his words, and I think Tristan noticed because he stopped his words and looked over me weirdly.  “He wanted to check in with you.  Are you alright Addy?”

I look up trying to cover my discomfort, “Yeah, yeah I am fine.”  He continues to look at me weird and I can tell he is about to ask me about it, when we hear the knock on the back door and footsteps.

I sense Braxton enter from the back.  Tristan shakes his head and looks up to see Braxton walk into the kitchen.  “Good morning, Tristan.” Braxton stops near the bar not far from me, “Addy”.

“Morning man, so I have to run up and get dressed because I did almost as bad of a job of making pancakes as Addy did cooking cookies yesterday,” Tristan says as I covered my face in shame as both the boys laughed in my expense.

“Enjoy the laughter now, because I am not going to save any cookies for you.” I say with a playful glare at Tristan.

His laughter stops and he puts his hands up in surrender with a huge smile across his face, “I take it all back sis.  You are amazing.”

I roll my eyes at him playfully and mumble, “suck up.”

He laughs and kisses the top of my head on his way up the stairs. “I will be back in a little bit” he says, with a stern look towards Braxton.  Braxton just nods at him, while looking down with his hands in his pocket.

After we hear Tristan close his door, I notice Braxton stepping closer to me.  “Hey” he says softly.  “Hey” I reply in a barely hearable voice. I am uncomfortable now alone with Braxton, I don’t know why, I have never felt this way before, but I feel my body heating under his gaze and my body tenses.

“Addy, I just wanted to say…umm…” He stepped beside me and turned my body on the swivel chair to look at him.  He is now standing directly in front of me.  My knees are touching his thighs, the heat keeps rising and my heartbeat is picking up.  Crap, this isn’t good.

I can’t let him know he affects me like this.  “It’s all good, I say.”

As I push him away a little bit from me.  I get to stand up from my chair and my foot catches on the bottom rung.  I fall forward off the chair right into his arms.  He catches me and I quickly try to gain my footing only to realize my foot his truly caught.

I look back at my foot and I feel him shift me in his arms to one side while he reaches down with the other arm to lift my foot off the rung of the chair.  My skin burns in a good way where he touches my leg.  I turn quickly towards him to gain my balance and push away only to come face to face with him.

I can feel his warm breath fan across my face, and it’s like we are both lost in each other’s eyes.  I feel his arms move down around my waist and pull me up towards him.

I watch his eyes move from my eyes down to my lips, and back up again.  I subconsciously lick my lips, with the thought of actually kissing him. His eyes snap down to my lips when I do that, and I feel him coming closer stopping right as his lips are almost touching mine.

We stand there and staring into each other’s eyes, shifting our eyes from lips to eyes and back again.  I bite my lip, trying to fight the urge to close the space between us and feel the softness of his lips on mine.  He looks down and sees my lip between my teeth, and I feel him start to harden against my stomach.

He reaches up, and right before he touches my lip with his thumb, we hear my brother’s door open.  My eyes shoot open wide, and I push him away, and turn on my heels quickly.

I am walking around the corner of the kitchen counter towards the sink, when I hear Tristan come into the kitchen.  I don’t look up from the sink and start washing my dishes. I feel Tristan walking towards me, so I take a deep breath and pull myself together when I look up at him and smile.

“I will be back soon, remember we have a date to Jimmy’s, okay kiddo.” He says with a smile as he wraps me into a hug.

“Yeah, I am holding you to that, Jimmy’s sounds amazing.” I say with a smile of my own.  He kisses my forehead and walks out.

“Bye little moon!” he yells as he and Braxton walks out.

“Bye!” I yell back as I hear the door shut behind them.

I finish up with my dishes and put them in the drying rack.

What the actual fuck just happened?

I walk up to my room and lay down on my bed to get myself back together.  This can’t be happening.  I cannot be getting involved with my brother’s best friend, my future alpha.  I turn 18 soon and I will find my mate and will forget all about him.  Yeah, that’s what is going to happen.  I am going to forget all about him once I find my mate, I just need to keep distance between us until then.
