I whipped my head so fast it’s a surprise I didn’t get whiplash. Hold on-mhm, definitely a whiplash. Ouch.I turned to meet the familiar blue eyes; the shade of blue that reminded you of the ocean itself. The thick dark brown mob of hair that could pass as black was cut short and was gelled up on the top of his head and even though it’s been months, I could’ve recognized that face anywhere. But it didn’t help diminish the dread that settled in. “Dominic?” I didn’t realize I said it until Adam spoke up, “You know the guy?”I nodded my head, moving my head slightly but my eyes were trained towards the guy I once called best friend and brother.“Yeah, Sand, it’s me,” he spoke so softly as if I’d break any second, which might as well be true. My knees went weak and tears threatened to fall as I unconsciously stepped closer hesitantly towards him. From the end of my vi
I could feel the car spinning as the screech of metal against cement pierced my senses and the toppling over of the car as I was thrown into the embrace of the seat belt before it all came to a stop and silence filled the night but the problem is, a huge weight was settled on top of me and I’m hanging upside down.I felt something wet sliding down the side of my head and my head throbbed. My eyelids felt heavy but I can’t shake off the feeling that I shouldn’t be sleeping.I felt my throat going dry when I saw the face above me and the dread settled in the pit of my stomach as panic surged through me.I faintly heard my brother’s voice telling me that a panic man is a dead man but he didn’t say anything about keeping calm when he was the one causing me to hyperventilate.“No No NO! Bry? Bry?! No, this cannot be happening. Bry?! Wake up, please wake up!” I pleaded and begged but no matter how many times I
I felt like a complete zombie. I won’t understand why I bothered going to school. I would probably learn nothing by the rate I’m processing things.“Dude, you look like shit.” Dom exclaimed once he saw me going down the stairs. My clothes were ruffled, my hair was a mess and I’m pretty sure my face was pale and have bags under my eyes.“Yeah, I feel like it too,” I muttered to him. Monday is so not my day.Not soon after that, I was greeted by sweet Monic who had a look of pure horror. She didn’t even bother hiding it. “Case, are you sure you’re fine?”“Never said I was, Mon, never said I was.” I mumbled to her.Jake and Adam were eating breakfast in the kitchen and since Adam’s back was towards the door, he still hadn’t said anything, yet. But that soon ended when Jake started choking on his food. Adam looked at him worriedly and reached over the counter t
When class was over, I found a note in my locker.Football practice until 4. Sorry.–AdamOf course he got recruited in the football team. I mentally groaned and sighed in faint annoyance. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for the dude but I do not have a good experience with the football guys in this hell hole.I guess I’m doing my homework early then.I took a hold of the thick ass book for history and business studies. This is a pain in my ass, I mean look at these shits. Who in their right mind would even have the time to create a book this fudging thick?!I finally finished sorting out the things I wanted to bring with me to the bleachers and took my files out to shove in the papers I got from my lectures. Cue mental groan here. I’m so going to fail future tests if I don’t get my shit straight ASAP.It took me a few minutes after looking around that I realized it was quieter than usual and hushed tones were
Adam pushed the door open for me and the second I stepped foot into the place, yells, cheers and shouts engulfed me.I tugged at the hoodie’s sleeves and shrunk back into its warmth, trying to seek comfort as adrenaline rushed through me at my familiar surroundings.I love this place but the fact that I’m not alone as I stroll through the place is bothering me.There’s a reason why I use a nickname in this place and do not associate with the people inside the building when I meet them anywhere but here.I stuck to Adam’s side, trying to blend in for once as we walked through the crowd. Adam was having a hard time finding his cousin and I was beyond anxious while Jake, Dom and Monic trailed behind us.I didn’t like her coming with but she finally wormed her way into a loop hole and got her pass. This place is anything but safe and I wouldn’t forgive myself if anything happens to my baby sister. She’s just
“Here are the rules,” He started, eyeing the three guys that I’m pretty sure were intimidating him but I shook my head, chuckling softly.“We’re out of the building and that means there are no rules, pretty boy.” You asked for it, you’re going to get it. “The only shit that’s going to happen is a deal. If I win, you and any associate of yours will leave me and my friends alone.” I told him in a firm voice, thinking about Monic. Jake better get her somewhere safe by now or I’m so going to castrate the shit out of that guy.“And if I win?” He prodded and I shrugged, hoping to come off uncaring about it.There was a 50/50 chance this guy can win judging from his built and how his eyes zero on my every move. This is going to be a tough fight. His eyes twinkled with mischief and something else that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and the goose bumps decided to
After parking my bike near the entrance, I trudged lazily into the warehouse, guided by Adam and the dim light of our phones. It wasn’t big and it looked pretty cozy to live in. It was easily as big as my living room back home.A couch was pushed in the far corner, covered with sheets and under it laid a carpet and nearby sat a mini wooden coffee table that seemed to be polished not long ago. Beside the couch was a lamp stand that was alight and on the other side was a mini fridge, plugged into a socket on the foot of the wall.Shelves and 2 other couches were placed across the room along with a counter with snacks and sachets of tea, coffee and other beverages. A few clothes were strewn here and there but aside from that, there was nothing unique about it.Monic ran towards me in a hurry and engulfed me in a bear hug before pushing me to arm’s length to start her inspection from my head to the tip of my toes for any wounds.“Je
I woke up in the middle of the night, gasping for air as I shot up from the couch. I looked around frantically and tried to remember where we were. My heart thudded loudly against my ribs painfully and the blood rushed to my head.My hands were clutching the shirt covering my chest in a fist, trying to calm my ragingly beating heart.I finally managed to force myself to focus and reminisced what happened last night. Meanwhile, Adam, who apparently gave me some space to sleep and decided to sleep on the carpet instead, stirred awake and hummed in silence. After rubbing the sleep off his eyes, he sat and stretched, instantly wincing and held onto his back. He finally caught me staring and scratched the back of his head awkwardly. “Erm... Hey?” It came out as a question and I can’t help but give him a weak smile at the attempt he made.“Was it another nightmare?” He asked as I shifted and gave him room on the couch. He
