I was Astonished. I couldn't understand the cause of it. I took a napkin from my car and wiped it off.

The thought of going to tell Rebecca came to my head, but I thought against it instantly. She was already worrying about Mirabel. I would just be an addition to her problem. I didn't want that.

After concluding to suck it up, I entered my car and started it. I was certain it was nothing.

Ken's POV

I stared at those remorseful eyes as she approached me, but that didn't take away the grimace I had on my face. Mirabel was probably feeling guilty due to how I denied all her allegations. I was a coward, I had to admit. I should have owned up to what I had done, but I didn't want her to see me as a monster. She could hate me all she wanted, but I didn't want to be a beast to her. She was the only person who didn't see me as one.

As I brushed past her, it felt like I was being poked in my heart by a needle. The universe was surely testing me. I kept seeing her everywhere even tho
