Havermouth, Present Time

Samuel’s expression was sympathetic as he stepped back into the hallway. He would have heard everything, Meguitte knew, and felt her cheeks color. It could have been worse, she told herself, and knowing that he was just outside had helped to prevent worse from happening as even if she had been tempted by Logan’s attempts at seduction, the idea of sex with an audience brought back too many terrible memories.

Meguitte picked up the tray. Samuel checked that the cool room door was closed casually as he passed it before resuming his seat. “A tough situation,” he observed, not even pretending not to have heard. “What will you do Meguitte?”

She looked down at the tray she held. “I know what I should do,” she replied honestly, raw, and vulnerable. “I should choose the good man, the steady man, the man who has always been kind to me. I should…” She could taste the tears that streaked down her cheeks, the salt bitter on her tongue. “It’s the right thing to do. But…”

Oh, poor Megs and Harry!! Aww, Harry's sister's death must still be way on them. I think I love Harry's & and Megs' relationship. Uh-oh Logan, it looks like you have some competition with Connery. I hope truly everything works out for everyone, but I don't know if it will!! :*(
