Heath led the way towards his bedroom, automatically seeking out the security of his own den, his own territory. He was nervous, he admitted to himself. The vampire was intimidating in every way, from his royal lineage, his age, through to his physical presence.

In a way, in Talen, Heath had taken another rogue as a mate, and f-k knew Rhett was a handful at the best of times, but Heath was at least confident after so many years together that Rhett would back down if handled correctly.

If Talen decided that he wanted to be the lead alpha, however, Heath was not sure that he would be able to hold onto the position. He had to hope that, like Rhett, Talen had no interest in being lead alpha of their odd little pack – and being a vampire, and not a werewolf, that was very possible.

The one-on-one time between them would give Heath the opportunity to sound the vampire out, he decided.
