Chapter 78: Endure more

Before I knew it we were at the edge of the forest and stepping out onto moist green grass. The sun had fully set and the moon cast eerie shadows across the meadow in front of us. To my right, I could see the worn down barn that was the slave's quarters, and in the distance, I could see the grande mansion that was Lucas’ house.

I expected Lucas to turn towards the barn and ask Jace to deposit me there before he walked calmly to his home in the distance. Questions and fears raced through my mind, but Jace gave me a slight nod before looking back at Lucas.

By the time we reached the front door of the house, I was practically hyperventilating.

“Listen, Carrie. I located Levi and talked to him. But he refused to talk to me. He wanted to see you,” he whispered.

Hearing this, I felt like all the pain I felt vanished and I looked straight at Jace.

“When? How?”

“Levi’s in the maniac’s hidden house. He comes there once a month to feed with him. Not just him but a few old-world vampires.
