THIRD ARC
Two months have passed since everything went down. When she got home, it took her about ten minutes to be able to open the door. She was incredibly nervous and had wondered what her parent’s reactions would be. It was hard to see their faces and how they morphed through different emotions when they saw her, but in the end, it was all good. Her mother was in shambles for hours and scolded Gwen to no end, but she assured her that everything with her was fine. They made a fuss over her injuries, but they didn’t hurt much and Gwen had to tell them that a few times before they calmed down.
And then she had to tell them what happened, of course, she gave them the censored version and made everything lighter than it actually is. She also had to play down her pain, saying that she never felt anything because she was high on adrenaline the entire time.
After that, her mother looked at her injuries. It was not the best
“This is a step forward in my plan. The Queen is obviously not going to Estril to make peace, we all know that. And I want to be there to help protect the royal family and to make sure that she does not get what she wants. If I were to get my personal feelings involved then it would ruin the entire thing.” Gwen said. Her mother shook her head. “I just have a bad feeling about this.”“Of course, you have a bad feeling about it, this is the Queen we’re talking about. She is definitely up to something and so that’s why I need to go. I’m just a lowly soldier to her, she won’t pay attention to me.”“Gwen.” her father stood up. “Being anywhere near her is not a good idea. She could see you and have suspicions.”“People look alike, it’s nothing strange. She will see me, and then move on. I’m going to Estril. I&rs
“What the hell is your problem?” Ace grabbed onto her arm.Gwen sighed and turned to face him calmly. “Why would I give you the time of day when you only want to say bad things to me. That’s not very good for my mental health, is it? Would you listen to someone who always insulted you?”“I’m just telling you what you need to hear. You got lucky with the war between us and Paria-Drae, but now this is an operation that could very well put our royalty in danger and I don’t think we need someone who is just going to drag the entire team down. Why did you even come back?” he gripped her arm tiger, his nails digging into her arm slightly.“Your precious General called me here, so of course, I came.”“And did you have to run away from home this time?” he leaned down in her face and Gwen had half the mind to spit on it.
The strange looks from the soldiers never stopped and Gwen had momentarily forgotten about them, but then when she approached the group, they glanced at her sideways, and then quietly shuffled away. No one seemed to want to tell her what the problem was. Maybe if she had remembered she could have asked Gloria or Doctor Reeves, they would have probably told her the truth if they knew.Because the soldiers moved away, Gwen stepped closer to watch what Ace was doing. She would have stepped in and stopped him but she didn’t want to interact with him. His immaturity was amazing and so Gwen decided it would be better if she didn’t.Some of the guards got the memo that they were not going to win and they backed off, causing Ace to run out of victims quickly. When the line stopped coming he looked around confused stretching his shoulder and then laughing.“Is that it? Is that all I get? Wow, no wonder we were cal
It was now Ace’s time to avoid her. Gwen wasn't complaining but she just wanted answers. It was hard to move on from their conversation when she didn’t even get what she wanted. She had tried to communicate with him but he didn’t even bother to give her a second glance. The soldiers and guards who were there obviously witnessed their little thing and it was an awkward couple of seconds walking away. She hoped people would not assume that they had something between each other. The looks did not stop however and so she was still left in the dark about why it was happening. It seemed like Ace had the answer but he would not tell her and she could not get close enough to anyone else to have them tell her.The time for getting acquainted with the castle passed and the day for the arrival of the Paria-Drae royal family came. Gwen was honestly too anxious and barely slept the night before. Wondering what the Queen would look lik
To say something so bluntly and in front of everyone in the room was definitely not Ace’s brightest moment. Gwen knew that everyone was thinking it. The way they looked at her and the Queen during the entire meeting said it all. But she was sure that it would not have been something anyone would say out loud so that the current awkward situation would be avoided. Her fingers drummed against her side and she sent a harsh glare in Ace’s direction. Just because he was mad at her for whatever reason he was, did not mean that he could just drag her down like that. It was plain foul.“I- I do?” she feigned shock. “I guess you could say that since we’re both blond.”The General grumbles at her words. “The resemblance is a bit striking.”One of the higher-up soldiers who were next to the General stepped up. “Are you sure you have no relation to the Queen
“You really should go around saying that I look like Queen Meredith. That won’t be good for any of us. I have no relation to her but people can talk and having the Queen suspect something is the last thing we all need.” Gwen said to him.“Are you sure you’re not her secret child or something? Born from a love affair.” Ace said.Gwen froze for a moment and then turned to him. “What the hell?” her tone was icy. She looked around to make sure that no one was around to hear what he had just said. Gwen grabbed his arm and pulled him to the side. Pulling him down to her level she was so tempted to hit him but she didn’t.“Watch what you say. People from Paria-Drae are really suspicious people and they are serious gossips. You can start something and then bring trouble for me and my family. Do you not have any sense in the head that tells you talking like that is not a g
Dick Holden. He was the man her mother loved and was betrayed by. Gwen obviously knew that he was just using her for some sort of personal gain and that in the end he just tossed her aside when he saw that he could get something better. He was a governor in Paria-Drae and a highly regarded one at that. Gwen had read countless newspaper articles about him and there was never anything truly outstanding about what he had done. He oversaw a couple of laws here and made sure certain things were implemented. Although he was highly regarded, there was nothing he did for him to be treated so well. So it was obvious how he got in that position. Gwen guessed he knew what would come out of him using his mother. It was perfectly normal for a noble and royal to have relations with each other and no one would have frowned upon the news of their marriage. He could have simply manipulated her feelings and then ended up becoming the King of the country. Although he would n
“I am almost a spitting image of my mother but unfortunately I didn’t get the full package and had to be ruined by genes by my biological father. He was probably hideous to be quite honest. The way my mother talked about him really told me that she didn’t have standards when she was younger.” Gwen nodded as if she was in thought. The governor coughed and looked around his desk, he ruffled between a few pages before he brought his hand up through his hair and tugged it, downing the rest of his wine. Gwen had to bite her lip to hide her smile and walked up to the desk.“Is everything alright?” she asked him.Dick leaned away from her as if she had a contagious disease, his face full of shock and disbelief. “No, no, I’m fine.” his words were barely heard.“Well alright then, just let me know if you see anything suspicious.” Gwen nodded to him a
