Whispering. 

It was a twittering of irritation. 

Some loud enough for him to hear.

Others merely ‘pst pst pst.’ 

Such an irritating sound. 

Jaxson squared his shoulders as he strode through the town, he’d been home, seen his family. He’d laughed with his sister, he’d lied to his parents about whether he’d found his mate. He was lucky they hadn’t asked about the stupid rumours. 

He’d loved spending the downtime with those he loved, but now it was time to get back to work, back to training with his friends. Previously, before his opportunity
